This is why AG is a great player!!! Wisdom is a must when you play poker but you must also have the natural ability of picking up on tells. That is the only thing a book will never teach you. They only tell you what to look for nobody can give you the pure skill of reading your opponent. Awsome Library AG...

I was dealing in a bar league for a bit, but that's over now. I did just get hired by our local casino to deal blackjack, and am hoping I can move to the poker room asap. But right now, no, no job.

Hey Ag how do you go about putting a avatar on CC. Thx, Unlucky 79:icon_sant

"User CP" top right.

There are so many good ones, it's really tough to pick. Anyway, here are five that you might not pick out right away. Each one had a huge impact on my game, and after reading it something just "clicked" and I seemed to take another step in my understanding:

Killer Poker by John Vorhaus
Hold’em Poker by Gary Carson
The Book of Bluffs by Matt Lessinger
Zen and the Art of Poker by Larry Phillips
Small Stakes Hold’em by Ed Miller, et. al.

AG, do you read these or just collect them? If you do read them all, when do you find time to play? I just finished Kill Everyone and Professional No-Limit and thought both were excellent.

I read them, although I am having a little trouble keeping up with my purchases lately -- and sadly, no, I don't play as often as I should.

Ag, i have a question for you in the strat section. It has to do with The Math of Poker by Chen/Ankenman and if it is suitable for a math dropout like me (who still is enrolled in higher education).

No! The book is super math heavy, almost to the point of being too technical to be useful/practical.

Here is a page scan to give you an idea (sorry about the sizing):

Scan0001

And while it's not all like that, there are certainly more practical math books out there for those of us who are not Dr. Cheetah.
