This article about the origin of the chips made me remember those times when I started playing poker with my friends from work at lunchtime.

I remember that in an occasion to standardize the game we cut out paper pedasos and use them as game tokens, noting on the piece of paper the value of the card; What a good times.

It is interesting to know about the difficult falcification of the chips of the casinos; I have often wondered if they are easy to falcify and now I know they can bring a micro chip.

Once again very excellent and interesting article, thanks cc.

I did think never about origin of the chips in poker. Now i know there is a story in this subject. I don't like to pay attention to accessorial stuff attached to the poker wasting on it my time. I am prefer to spend time for studying of the poker itself first of all.

The story about the woman having a $30k chip and having it for sale for as much as $10 is crazy. Fair play to that honest man for letting her know. It makes you wonder what other treasures like stolen away.
I have only really dealt with standard home game chips but I am excited to finally get my hands on some authentic casino chips. Does anyone know is it ok to keep a chip as a souvenir or is it expected for you to return all chips. Thinking of taking a $1 chip as souvenir.

with great interest read the article about the chips. it is curious whether the fraudsters managed to cash fake chips and what amount of their profit. still wondering what fate awaited these desperate people when the Scam is detected. in casino movies, any cheater will have a sad end. but most of all like the chip for 30,000 bucks

This post was very informative. Well, I know the game only on the internet, and I had never tried to know how it all started. Now I was forced but I liked what I read. Imagine a chip-free game in some places on the planet - it would be a bizarre and comic game.

The biggest pleasure is when you play with real banknotes instead of a chips. Then you really have the best feeling of playing poker :)

Stattya is very interesting. when we were playing poker with friends, we used the cheapest poker kits bought on the Internet. And also I tried to take myself one or more chips when playing poker offline in poker rooms

Once again, I am amazed at how popular your poker is in your countries. We rarely get to play live, tembolee with chips. I have a lot of equipment for sports games, but there is nothing for poker.

I’ve never used anything but poker chips to play. When I started playing home games I used a cheap set with plastic chips. Over the years I’ve had a few clay composite sets with metal inserts. Now I have a 100% clay set, I really like them and they are worth the price.

Nice excursus in the history! I like the idea with replacing chips by electronic devices, because it`s very hard to me to count chips of my opponents in live poker...
On the other hand I like to shuffle poker chips, since it calms me down)

I liked this excursus in the historical past of the small and round chip.
One day, before I registered on pokerstars and discovered the world of online poker for myself, I played poker with my friends in gazebo in the garden and instead of chips we used grapes. It was very uncomfortable, because he constantly rolled on the table. I remember I had a big stack and I ate half.

I am really astonished by the part talking about the Most Expensive Poker Chips Ever Made that poker token worth $7.5 million 1,000 carats made me think of the days when I used to play home games with some plastic sticks and some round buttons commonly used in primary schools to help 6 years pupils calculate.
What if I win these precious tokens I will not dare to ask the casino to change them for real money and will go away with all my stack in a case to keep it as a Trophy.

Poker chips in £ & pence

Hi everyone, sorry if this has been asked before n i was too simple to find it.

Am looking to buy some chips for 2 - 8 people, low money home games, blinds 1p/2p to 25p/50p.

Was considering 1000 chip spread 150 x 1p, 2p, 5p & 10p
100 x 25p, 50p
50 x £1, £2, £5, £12

Does anyone have any thoughts on the numbers?

And does anyone know if this is plausible for reasonable ( £/p ) chips around/under £200 and any websites worth looking at?

Thanks,

Mike

Poker Chips in UK Pounds pence

Hi,

I posted my first message and message about this seemingly in the wrong place, received link to this thread but my original message not placed here.. umm..

Yes, does anyone know where I could get reasonable chips in £ as opposed to $ without forking out for custom designs?

Thanks,

Mike

Great article! Please do more on chips.

The bit on "clay composites" confirms my suspicion on one of my sets. They look like plastic to me but I always tell myself "clay composite". They're clay composite right?? Platics...sigh...

A brilliant article, I've just never seen anything like it.
I really do not want casino games to leave the physical chips, because it is something that is part of the action, whether or not it influences the mind set.
I play a lot more online than live, but I do not want this exchange done.

Always wanted to get into collecting poker chips.
Question: "What is the single greatest/most valued poker chip out there?" I'm talking like the holy grail.

I've collected many other things in life so I'm familiar with the collecting industry in general but when it comes to poker chips what are some key things to think of when acquiring them?
