The only times I've played drunk are when I've played with friends. It's usually relatively low stakes so nothing I'm worried about losing. Plus, as it's with friends, it's more of a socialising thing than an actual game where concentration is needed.

If I'm playing online for any decent stake then I most definitely wouldn't be playing drunk. I may have one beer, but any more than that and your ability to rationalise and make good calls will start to really become impaired.

if you play free then you can also play with beer and chips, it’s not scary, but when you play big then you don’t have a drop of alcohol and you need to sleep well

that is the worst mistake, of a player, of poker, he does not measure his limits, and makes mistakes, which he later regrets, the next day. :D

Haha no a good idea. You might get lucky once in a while playing aggressive but I think in the long run you'll make more mistakes. Plus most times at tables you are the annoying person.

I think there are a lot of categorical answers to this question. In general, I agree that alcohol impairs judgement. For me, knowing I'm a little buzzed makes me pay a little closer attention, and maybe I don't act as instantly, which makes my game a little better.

Absolutely!!! I like to have a drink to wind down at the end of the night. If I'm playing really serious I will have just one until my session is over but if I'm just in a gambling mood especially when I have a craving to play some PLO, it can definitely be a good time if things go your way. HOWEVER.... in general I do make more risky decision when I'm drunk, not so much buzzed but I start to forget which tells and mental notes I have on specific players which obviously hinders my ability to exploit them. I think it's a bad idea to play drunk if you're a serious poker poker player and probably even buzzed but if you enjoy poker recreationally and don't beat yourself up too bad when things don't work out then I would say it isn't that big of a deal.

No matter how much I've played hold'em, I've never won anything while drunk. I am very excited when drunk. But I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't mind playing drunk to win.

Playing poker drunk is a bad idea. There is no concentration of attention, rash actions are committed. This is an inefficient game.

Concentration and determination wilt for me when I have had a few drinks, especially towards the end of a tournament. This always ends badly. Step away from the bottle/can when playing.

Playing drunk is not great for me, I prefer getting stoned. Only trouble is I tend to eat all my chips.

Hi everyone, what is your thoughts on playing and drinking? I fell like a little drunk I play better, agressive when have to be, don't fell like my chips are my children if you know what I mean haha. But too drunk and lost all. What's you think of playing drunk? Little or too much.

You probably don't want to hear this but I like playing people who are drinking. I look for the happy drinking table to be at. I will change tables to play with drinkers. Notice I said drinkers not necessarily drunks. Most of them think they play better, as you say, you have more bravado. My cash outs from those tables tell me that I like them having no fear and for being brave. I never criticize their play and will compliment them for being braver than me. Honestly, my best cash outs have been taking money from drinkers who think they play better and spit out money faster than an ATM.

I think that if you are drunk and play poker the only thing you will do is give away your money, it is not advisable to play in that state, you become more aggressive and want to play every hand, plus you tildas faster and worse is, better to be well to play to the fullest.

I think a little alcohol or something else does not interfere with the game. On the contrary. A sense of proportion is important. However, it all depends on the individual

I don't drink alcohol.
But seems everytime I played against a drunk player I got busted.

I have just the opposite luck. I play fewer hands and compliment the drunk on how well he is playing and I that I like his style of play. Of course I like it, I am waiting for a good hand and I know he will double me up. The only flaw in my strategy is that someone else at the table is playing the same strategy as I am and gets his money first.
One time and this is no BS, the table started buying rounds, for everyone. I joined in and ordered virgin drinks. When it came my turn to buy I bought two drinks for everyone.I cashed out $4500 in a 1/2 NLH game. My best night ever, and I usually don't play cash, but I was happy I did that night.:D:D:D

It's no secret that alcohol has a fantastic ability to give you a feeling of invincibility and self-confidence, and these things are best left off the poker table. Most players who have admitted their own mistakes can tell you with confidence:"Never play poker drunk!".
