girls playing poker now a days is no big deal, there's good and bad players everywhere, although most guys like myself will try their hardest to avoid being beaten by a girl, because that is just plain embarrassing

My observation

In general, women have a distinct advantage over men. They tend to be more patient and less driven by ego. Woman lose the advantage because they are generally somewhat less aggressive, so those that can aggressively play in situation are tough to beat.

I don't think I'd date a poker player. The few women in my poker league who have dated guys from the league have all regretted it.

I have never played "live" and I'm still pretty much a novice online female poker player. I tend to use neutral, like the dog on FTP, or male avatars. Sometimes I use the old lady one because that is probably the closest to me. I have my dog as my avatar when we can select our own.

When people address me they usually refer to me as "he" or "him". I will correct them and say I'm a she, not a he. Many have been surprised and once in awhile I will get a comment that I don't play like a girl. I would like to know, what does a girl play like?

I think women have a better temperament for poker. I think men go on tilt way too easy where a women keeps more of a level head.

I guy can be so predictable when on tilt. So many guys will go all in right after a bad beat. I can sit at the computer and right before their turn I will say - All In. Sure enough, they go all in. Interesting, that I will usually fold then next hand or two after a bad beat unless they are really monster hands.

I think there are some really great women poker players and there are some not so good women poker players. Some men as well as women are not that serious about the game while others, both men and women take the game very serious.

In general I would say women are a little less aggressive, more chatty (like to talk in chat), but more even tempered. I don't think women are any better or worse at poker than men. It all depends on the individual.

Judging a poker player by his/her sex is as foolish as judging one by his/her race or country. It can't be done. We always say play the person, not the cards. Isn't it obvious you play the person and not the sex?

One time i lost pretty big in a freeroll to a girl because i got caught using this sterotype just trying to bully her out of the pot, and it ended up costing me the tourny. Now when i play online i dont look at the players gender cause it doesnt matter

I never got respected at the tables. Not back then, not now. I've gotten over it. I think it's a little easier to make money. I don't have to raise, all the men raise for me. I just sit and patiently wait for the right cards.

I think most women would be better at poker than men if they really would want to become good players.

Luckily for us men most women don't have that crazy competitve nature like men (you know 'the my penis is bigger than yours' thing).

Cause women are much stronger in picking up non-verbal signals and they feel when you're being honest or not, THEY JUST DO, trust me.

I think female sharks are one of scariest poker players on live, more than guys.

While men are more aggressive than women in poker in general, what comes to your mind when "girls" play?

Do people think girls can't play poker or is it a retarded ego some males have against women because they're sexist?

When I go to casino, I see lot of people trying to bully a girl with their chips. They have a stereotype against girls that girls can't play poker. I'm a guy but i think this arrogant ego is very retarded. Even on youtube, whenever some female poker players play, people say "girls can't play poker" "they're donk" etc.

One of my favorite female poker players is Jennifer Harman. After her, it'll prolly be Kara Scott.

What do people think about girls playing poker in general as in stereotype?(besides "girls who play poker are hot")

It seems to be that the nature of this question is sexist. If this post were about members of one ethnicity v. another, I'm sure someone would have pointed out the racist nature.

The fact is women play poker. There are female players of all levels, some competitive, some aggressive, others less so. The same applies to men.

i dont see why theres such emphasis on if theres a man or woman sitting at the poker table. im more worried about not losing my chippies and how the other people are playing to care if im up against a man or woman. its not like its boxing, football or UFC. its poker and a woman can take your chips just as easily as a man.

"Girls", i.e. underage females, shouldn't play poker online or in casinos, but then, neither should "boys", i.e. underaged males.

As to the question asked by the OP, online or live, it makes no difference to me whether the table contains women or men in any ratio. They do have that cleavage thing going for them in live play, which I always considered a bit unfair. I may be old, but I ain't dead.

As a woman, I don't really think that there is much of an advantage as people think. Sure, we have the opportunity to really wins some chips when an aggressive player thinks that they can pull one over on us when we play tight but on the flip side of that, players tend to play super aggressive, against me anyway. It takes a lot more to protect good hands and I get called with just about anything just because the guys think that if they are pushy enough, that I can be moved off of a hand. It is actually a bit frustrating. I try to take it in stride and keep a cool head and usually can go far but I really need to get into being more aggressive. I will get knocked out deep in a tourney because I get too scared. So, as many advantages as we may have, there are other things stacked against us that we have to overcome. BTW, I love math.

At home where I play at the casino I never see women playing but all the wives and girlfriends do pretty good at our homegames. I also think they get a little more respect because people think they aren't capable of bluffing or making moves.

women are on a even playing field when it comes to poker, a game of intelligence and experience. poker is not a physical sport which relies on athleticism. most of the best players are male simply because most players are male. there are a couple of female regulars in some of the online games i play that i respect as much as the good male regulars.
