What do people think of girls playing poker?

Some people say "girls can't play poker" blah blah blah

I think female sharks are one of scariest poker players on live, more than guys.

While men are more aggressive than women in poker in general, what comes to your mind when "girls" play?

Do people think girls can't play poker or is it a retarded ego some males have against women because they're sexist?

When I go to casino, I see lot of people trying to bully a girl with their chips. They have a stereotype against girls that girls can't play poker. I'm a guy but i think this arrogant ego is very retarded. Even on youtube, whenever some female poker players play, people say "girls can't play poker" "they're donk" etc.

One of my favorite female poker players is Jennifer Harman. After her, it'll prolly be Kara Scott.

What do people think about girls playing poker in general as in stereotype?(besides "girls who play poker are hot")

As a girl poker player, I rely on the uber-aggressive male ego a lot of the time. These are the players that are the easiest to read and the easiest to tilt. The quality experience boy poker players know better than to underestimate us girls.

Here is what my favorite poker writer has to say about female players:

You’ve overheard it in or near poker rooms when they thought you weren’t listening, though most of this dialogue goes on in the Men’s, as the guys assume the position in front of the urinal and expose what’s left of their manhood: “She didn’t have no business even bein’ in the pot with them pocket cards,” or, “That woman’s been dumb-lucky for a long time, but it ain’t always gonna be that way.” Each of these complainers has just lost his money to (gasp!) a woman. Guys, loaded down with testosterone and eaten up with the Mine’s-Bigger’n-Yours Syndrome, go on tilt more easily than women do, and waste tons of money trying to beat players they’ve taken dead aim on. Ladies don’t exhibit the same nonsense; bad beats don’t normally send them racing off to Cuckooville, and the fact that a certain player beats them a few pots doesn’t transform their game into a no-brain grudge match.

Would love to date someone who is into poker as well but that's actually pretty hard to do... more guys than girls are into it (just raw numbers). I'd wager a lot of guys are just happy to date someone who won't condemn them for playing (If you suck at it they may have a point though).


It's just a dumb stereotype that really means nothing. Men are more aggressive, mean tend to like math more and men tend to like to gamble more..all probably true in general. But it's still a dumb stereotype.

I'd actually argue that if you think of a female player as somehow less able or less talented because they are female, your own game probably has serious issues.

I never worry to much about ladies at my poker table at the casino. Some players seem to get overly distracted with every move a girl makes at the table. The only thing I notice differently between male and female players is my ability to read them. I don't play females enough to get good reads on them.

On I side note I do hate playing retied old woman who hit every draw on me

Playing live being a girl works to my advantage. I try to appear as naive as possible.

Playing online doesnt seem to matter. Nobody actualyl seems to believe I am a girl. I always hear "Thats a dude "

my girlfriend always kicks my ass if we decide to play heads up, idk why, i just cannot beat her, it sucks lol (however i always do better in tourneys) i think girls can read guys like books giving them a big advantage(they mostly only play with guys usually prob.) When a girl comes to my poker table, i am clueless of what she is thinking (at first, sometimes all night), just like in real life! 10 mins and i usually can tell how a guy plays, can take me all night to try and figure certain girls out. Women may not be able to drive, but I think that women can be great poker players.

Women have quite a few advantages at the table. First, they can easily take out any man who thinks he is better just because he is a man. Second, women tend to be pretty good at tells, feelings, and the like (in their nature, I suppose). Of course, a low-cut shirt never hurts either

girls playing poker now a days is no big deal, there's good and bad players everywhere, although most guys like myself will try their hardest to avoid being beaten by a girl, because that is just plain embarrassing
