The only way to avoid bad beats in poker is to stop playing because encountering them at table is quite inevitable thing and u must be willing to forget it and keep ur mind in check ( of course which is very hard thing to do ) , but it's what the game demands

Unless you get your opponent to put the money in drawing dead, then there is always a chance for a bad beat.

In other words, it happens. :)

You can't, that is the definition of a bad beat. If you can fold your cards you would not have had a bad beat. Only cards that appear to be unbeatable can make a bad beat. Folding KK with AK on the board would not have been a bad beat. Just possibly a smart play.
