I don't know how many hours are considered appropriate, but I wanted to give an example from my own experience. When I started playing poker in my mid-20s, I was playing for 10-15 hours every day. I never felt tired or bored from playing. It was all I wanted to do. Now that I am 40 years old, if I play more than 2 hours, I am ready to leave the session or the tournament. So I think age makes a big difference when figuring out what is appropriate.
Well, that is a long time

All day or maybe i would need to sleep at sometime. I think 3 or 4 hours everyday or 8 hours for a tournament everyother day now too. And it can go way longer easily. Good luck and crush them tables. :D

I spend at least 9-12 hours a day, but actual playing time varies from 1 hour to 8. For example, the last 5 freerolls I played, my winning hands were beat either at the turn or the river. That's poker. I usually make it to 100's which is about 3 hours of playtime, but I have a tip to keep things entertaining. It's a freeroll, I pay little attention to the other players, but do try to pick out the donks going all in or betting large preflop. The rest of the time I go about my day, watch YouTube, especially poker related vlogs, fill the dishwasher, make lunch, all while waiting for my turn to pop up. This way I don't feel too bad about spending that much time on poker as my chores are already done. :D

I recently had a intense debate about how many hours of poker is too much for one day? I had completed a very long tournament and was thinking about entering another when I was warned against it. It was argued that 6-8 hours of poker in one day is excessive. I disagree with this assessment, what do you think?

I've once played 72 hours straight in the casino with lots of coffee. No effect on my game and left with a 800 dollar win. I wouldn't recommended this thou.

I usually set a win goal/loss goal for the day. Meaning: I decide what I would like to win for the day and if I hit that goal then I usually shut it down. If I lose a certain decided amount for that day then I shut it down. Then some days I will wake up with sleep still in my eyes and jump right in for a full day...:)

If you plan on playing Mtt's and want to have success you must be willing to play for a minimum of 8 hours. Some tourneys can run longer. If you have time constraints then you must play cash games. There is really no way to play a tournament schedule in 4 hour sessions

Sleep When You Are Dead

Play Poker While You Are Living.

16 Hours Per Day might be a good number to shoot for.

Depends what you want to acheive. I know top pros commit at least 50% of their free time to poker while casual players might just review or learn one new topic every once and a while.

hello

we think that if you want to win, you have to spend at least 6 hours on it, because for a long time it is a normal room that pays off until then

If your playing tournaments then you are looking at a long long stint of playing poker. When I played live at Genting casino start to the actual finish of the tournament was 9 hours, The games I play online can go longer I was playing a $750 gauranteed tourney other night started at 1am i came of at 6.30am got knocked out in 27th and it was still going this tourney could of lasted another couple of hours at least. So 8 hours isnt excessive.

Some of the E.P.T. Tourneys can go on for days, Sure they have breaks, but even so playing in the same Tourney day after day must be a mental stress on most. I did hear that Phil Locke played continually for 3 or 4 days with only short breaks every 4 hours, and there is a game in the U.S.A. somewhere that has been going for years, The players may have changed over the years but the game is still the same, the dealers deal in shifts and the players play for as long as their money last's but they can cash out whenever they want and a new player sits down and takes over?
Can anyone verify this?
I would like to know if it is true, Personally I started playing in one game at 8.00 p.m. that went on until 10.00 a.m. the following day, and we only finished then because we agreed to a chop.

When the fun Stops, STOP!

I am comfortable playing about 4 hours a day. For HL Holdem tournaments, the turbo that I mostly play is that.:)

There is no basic rule that imposes a time limit. What should be understood here is, whether long hours will affect your game performance or your private life? If none of these points affect you, I consider that 8 to 12 hours is acceptable for a regular player and between 4 to 6 hours for a recreational.

We're talking about tournaments, aren't we? Tournaments usually last at least 2-3 hours. This means that about six hours a day are spent to play enough.

The question is if you are a professional eight is what an average workday lasts. If not, apart from the 6 or 8 hours that you dedicate to the game you have a job like the vast majority of mortals, how much time do you have left to share with your loved ones?
