how much his bankroll that he lost 6 M $ ? any one can estimate ?

Some people have estimated that Phil Ivey is worth around 40 million $ with around 30 million dollars belonging to his poker bankroll.

I guess Gus isn't far behind, but still being almost 11 million down is just devastating...

lol this amazes me, totally agree with you bernotas they must give him a large share of rake. Iv'e never like gus, for whatever reason yeah when he first came on the scene he would bully guys all the time make them fold bigger hands to his weaker hands especially defending the big blind so well like he did. But times have changed and I really do not believe he has adapted all that well to the poker. He to me will be a big loss. But how he gets this money is beyond me. I don't know who in their right mind would even consider backing him.

Man that's a lot of $ (to most people anyway) although he has lost this much I doubt you will see him filling for a chapter 11 anytime soon. Gus Hansen regardless of poker playing style or who much he wins/looses at the table, is A smart man he was a professional backgammon player before he played poker and has used his Brand (name) well over the years. In this day and age were you can become a celebrity over night you no longer have to worry about playing your A game day day out as there are so many avenues for you to profit from once your names out there.
That and a few smart business choices and your set for life. Think of all the royalties all the book deal magazine covers ect...ect you think they do all that for free once there names out there? I know that Besides being an FTP pro (which used to give you anywhere from .5%-2.5% of company shares) Gus also had another small online poker room he was a major owner of and he sold that for $10 million. I guess as the old saying goes once you have money its easy to make more money.

if not that is huge swing for him.

He has won millions over the last 10 years, he lives in Monaco, he is incredibly intelligent. He probably has $15m in a bank account for his life role and another $15m invested in property/business. I am pretty sure he had stakes in Full Tilt when it was at it's peak. He probably crushes live cash games.

I'm sure he has it all figured out.

I i had 10 mil to spend on poker i would have an amazin time. Imagine how fun it would be to lose all of that an not care at all. Im sure gus is gettin really good at online poker since he drops so much time on it, he is for sure better at the real tables. And gus is a prime example in my opinion of a poker player who doesnt lose his edge in real poker because of his online play.

On FT I only see he and the others FT pros playing omaha, never holdem.

I really would like to know where he gets his money and how he can continue to afford playing in high stakes games.

Long live FT pros lol (a bunch of dolts if you ask me) other than Ivey he's obviously a decent player.

I mean if people starting looking at FTP Pros this way things would be a lot different. It was a group of poker players they decided to make a site and act as they were the best in the business. There were plenty of other better players out there, but instead these guys asked their friends to get in and became millionaires. So the public obv looks to them as though they have to be good to get that far up in poker community, but truth is half those players aren't solid at all ONLINE and they are decent live that's about it.

When have you ever seen an old FTP Pro go deep in their Main Event FTOPs? haha

i feel like the top players all consider tourneys a waste of time, they think playing high stakes cash games on a regular basis means you are the best

He's a good player, mainly tournament player but I personally think he can't beat the absolute top players and gets crushed at the nosebleeds. Not sure how much he gets of FTP but I assume it will be worth several million per year.

He's never regarded himself as a "top player" or "pro" even, he's always said himself he's just a professional gambler.

I think you hit the nail on the head with this one! I personally dont like his style and see his play as worthless gambles. sure he gets lucky once in a while and goes on a run but he has to count on luck since his play is SO awefull

Dont' matter how much millions you have, but losing $10m+ is alot of money to lose. That's just silly. He's by no means a multi-hundred millionaire, so this I'm sure is a good chunk of change for him.

yes they are Pro's because that's what they do for a living....but some of them are donks!
I wont mention names but I've seen Negraneau call with a small pair when there is 4 over cards on the board, and he got very lucky.I know you all going to ask hundreds of questions like how deep was the MTT and what stack did he have and how many players left etc...The answer is...he did a donk call and got very LUCKY.So if us amateurs do this .....we never hear the end of it.When a pro does it and wins a hand...he is GOOD ???NO !!

the only explanation i can think of is that he only plays online when he's drunk, no one with the right mind would continue to play online poker after losing that much money (staked or not) without questioning their game, although i think most of the so called pros wouldnt last long if they had to start their carrier now.

i agree, i wonder how they would do if they had to start with a $20 bankroll and grind that up to the millions, doubt they could do it today, only the elite of the elite who commit to the game can do this, of course the easiest way to get a huge bankroll fast is to get lucky in a tourney, i doubt they could do that cause of how hard they are online, and even if you run deep you are still in for a lot of work and it just gets tougher, anyways poker has a certain luck factor that promotes donk plays, hard to say one certain play style on one hand will win you that hand but playing good poker will be the best way to assure long term winnings which gus clearly does not understand or implement

I love Gus, he loves me, we are going to start a family :D

On a more serious note, I love Gus, don't diss my gus :D

Dan and Gus are my faves, they are the first two poker players I ever watched on sky. One day I plan to play on the same table as them. Obviously no-one knows what his bankroll is, but I assume if he loses that much and not be bothered about it, then its obvious to say that is like small change to him.

Just his tournament winnings more than 10 million. I think he won much more in live CG. Plus advertisement for Full Tilt. I think he can easily survive losing that money, tho I guess he's not happy about it.
