Got lucky to be the one to take his stack. I think the whole table was after him. It broke up after i stacked him iirc. :D

he was even worse before you got there. that was him playing his "solid" game :). he was calling it off with gutshots and stuff. i was surprised he even had as good as top pair vs. you

been playing since i woke up, with one bathroom break. this grinding thing seems harder this weekend than it was last weekend

oh yeah, it's probably because i was stuck $ last week and chasing losses!

wooooooooo. too exhausted to write a full update, but cliffnotes are:

38.5k hands
+4800 dollars
i'm almost back on pace for the first time since like day 2... but,
that's kind of deceptive since this was the last full weekend of the month, and weekends are where i play about 50% of my hands

proper update with graph to come in a few days, then the home stretch

Hey, that's about one dollar for every post you've ever made.

Keep your head up; almost there.

"take the week off and play the last 12.5k hands on Saturday" would be an even better advice to get him to fail, imo... :D

Dude, that is insane! I'm definitely rooting for you in your prop-bet endeavors, but even if you don't make the 50k hands, I think the above numbers are in themselves a very impressive accomplishment, so congrats either way!

After you get done trying to jam 12k more hands into the rest of February, I'd love to pick your brain a bit about how many tables and hours you play, how you manage buy-ins (BRM-type stuff), and generally about how you play to get such great results. I'm overall a winning cash game player, but even though I play a lot, I don't think I've ever come even close to getting as many hands as this into a month, nor generating nearly as big a profit. . . . I'm truly in awe (and a bit jealous, I must admit)!

Anyway, for now I wish you the best of luck with the rest of the month -- go get 'em!

Midweek 4: The Penultimate Official Update! (look it up, fancy word imo)

The graph:

februaryweek4.jpg

More exciting than the words, so I figured I'd put it first this time. As you can see, with three full days and the remainder of Wednesday to go -- I may or may not play more tonight -- I've put myself well in striking distance, about 7700 hands from the goal.

I've started having lots of dreams about poker, pretty much all of which consist of me losing tons of money. My awake poker experiences have been significantly better. I'm playing a pretty tight showdown-dependent style that I could probably improve upon, but I'm hand-reading and making decisions well enough that I've managed to have a good deal of success with it. Between that style and the fortune of not having too many bad things happen, at least consecutively, the lowered variance has gone a long way towards maintaining my sanity. And to think I was so close to giving up between 16k and 25k.

Some groovy hands:

--------------------
HAND #1
--------------------

Full Tilt, $1/$2 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 7 Players
Hand History Converter by Stoxpoker

Hero (MP2): $200 (100 bb)
MP3: $58.90 (29.5 bb)
CO: $118.60 (59.3 bb)
BTN: $40 (20 bb)
SB: $200 (100 bb)
BB: $154.10 (77.1 bb)
MP1: $202.70 (101.4 bb)

Pre-Flop: Hero is MP2 with 5

MP1 folds, Hero raises to $7, 4 folds, BB calls $5

Flop: ($15) 5

A

Q

(2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $11, BB calls $11

Turn: ($37) T

(2 players)
BB bets $30, Hero raises to $140, BB calls $106.10 and is all-in

River: ($309.20) 3

(2 players, 1 is all-in)

Results: $309.20 pot ($3 rake)
Hero showed 5

(three of a kind, Fives) and lost (-$154.10 net)
BB showed 8

9
club.gif
(a flush, Ace high) and won $306.20 ($152.10 net)

Oh, not groovy. His turn call is definitely not good, but I guess he wanted to gamble or math is hard or something. He's getting worse than 2:1 and even if all his club and J outs are clean and not in my hand, which will almost never be the case, he's only 27%. Against my actual hand he was about 22% because the Tc and 5c were no good for him.

--------------------
HAND #2
--------------------

Full Tilt, $1/$2 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 7 Players
Hand History Converter by Stoxpoker

Hero (MP3): $208 (104 bb)
CO: $85 (42.5 bb)
BTN: $200 (100 bb)
SB: $138.50 (69.3 bb)
BB: $200 (100 bb)
MP1: $130 (65 bb)
MP2: $254 (127 bb)

Pre-Flop: Hero is MP3 with K
diamond.gif
K

MP1 calls $2, MP2 calls $2, Hero raises to $11, 3 folds, BB raises to $35, 2 folds, Hero calls $24

Flop: ($75) J

T
diamond.gif

(2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($75) T
heart.gif
(2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

River: ($75) J

(2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $45, BB calls $45

Results: $165 pot ($3 rake)
Hero showed K

K
spade.gif
(two pairs, Kings and Jacks) and won $162 ($82 net)
BB mucked Q

Q
diamond.gif
and lost (-$80 net)

This was against a tight reg. I knew his hand was either QQ or the other two Ks, so I decided to extend him an invitation to my payoff party in valuetown. Nothing too extraordinary, but it's always fun when you can figure out their exact hand.

HAND #3
--------------------

Full Tilt, $1/$2 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 8 Players
Hand History Converter by Stoxpoker

MP1: $165.90 (83 bb)

BTN: $206.20 (103.1 bb)
SB: $205 (102.5 bb)
BB: $285.90 (143 bb)
UTG+2: $135.15 (67.6 bb)

Pre-Flop: Hero is MP2 with Q

UTG+2 checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($75) 2

UTG+2 bets $75, Hero raises to $150, UTG+2 calls $28.15 and is all-in

River: ($281.30) 5

Results: $281.30 pot ($3 rake)
Hero showed Q

UTG+2 showed 6

6
spade.gif
(a pair of Sixes) and lost (-$135.15 net)

Gutsy flop check but I knew it would induce the aggrotard every single time as long as an A or K didn't turn. Worth the 16% risk in my opinion. I had been trying to get his money all session.

Nice work Combuboom, it looks like you will successfully complete your bet and more importantly complete what you set out to achieve. Very well done to you so far and without wanting to count any chickens ........ congratulations.
I figure you are making between 13-14 cents per hand if my math is correct, nice going. Can you round it off to 15 cents by the end of the month please, lol.
