I once lost a friend due to poker. But I found him again, he just went down to the next casino's poker room while we were in Vegas.

I know its a bad idea to play with close friends and family ! but sometimes we play cash games between us friends ! and my 5+ years friend is tilted because i always beat him at poker ! he has a very high ego .. and always wants to be the best and to gloat but im just better at poker and i always beat him ! so now i think he is mad with me .
Honestly i dont care ! but it is what it is .
Big egos and poker success do not mix well. Ego cause tilt and tilt leads to bad play

Honestly, I think your ego is the same as your friend's. I always play with friends, it's normal for someone to get angry there at the time of a game because they lost due to a bad move or bad luck, but then it always goes back to normal and it's just pranks between friends. I think it's unnecessary for you to come here in a community and expose this, and be bragging about victories over your friend, that's normal in the game. Resolve this internally among friends, not in a community. It's just my opinion about it, you have the right to post whatever you want here. However, here is my opinion, if I add it to you, great. If you think your attitude is good, that's fine too. We are different people and we have no obligation to agree with everything or have similar thoughts, but I leave my advice here, and I respect what you think is right.

This has never happened to me before, since poker should have nothing to do with your friends. Because they are different things. Besides, if it's a true friendship, nothing can break it.

Really? What if you're bangin' his old lady?

No I haven't lost any friends from playing poker with them. I don't have any friends... ez game!

BUT, IF I did have some friends, I wouldn't play poker with them. Poker isn't a friendly game for me. I'm trying to TAKE from you. I'm trying to deceive you. I'm trying to induce you to make the wrong play so that I can TAKE some more from you... and the more I take from you, the better it is! Honestly this is the exact opposite of how I am with my friends (when I actually had some friends I mean).

The closest I've come to playing poker with friends for me was back in the day on Cardschat when we used to have regularly played tournaments with a $1 , $2, $3, $5, or $10 buyin. Played on Carbon Poker, Titan Poker, UltimateBet, Fulltilt Poker, pokerstars, partypoker, LockPoker, bodog (< the Bodog games were great... as were all of the others). I'd see the same group of players in the games and we all chatted on the tables while we played. I had a few non-friendly experiences but mostly it was just lots of fun and people were really nice/good to one another. online poker sure has changed in the past dozen years.

It has never happened to me... but it is clear that when you play poker with friends someone will end up losing money which could end a nice friendship too

I played with my cousin many years ago... And because I always managed to beat him things got tense between the two of us... That was the point when I decided to never play poker against friends or people I care about.

never happened to me, I think the difference is in the respect at the time of the game and after your victory over your friend.

I used to dream about playing poker professionally, and this caused me a lot of problems im my family because all the prejudice around the game etc... I even ended in a heavy argument with my father and had to go live with my mother... but after that I have changed plans and everything came to a nice conclusion... so yes, if the people around you doesn't support you, it can have real problems

No, I have never lost a friend because of poker. I always make sure to separate my personal life from my poker life, and I don't let poker affect my relationships
