Its all about tolerance, what some people may be able to handle it some others might not be able to handle it. I play drunk and stoned everyday and it doesn't effect my play too much.. if im too drunk i'll play pretty badley or if im too stoned i might go out like broomcorns uncle but usually I let them level each other out... The biggest tournaments i've ever won I was drunk and stoned.. some can handle it and focus and others can not!

As for weed clearing your mind, this again comes down to the individual. For me it definitely clears my mind and helps me relax! People who are fighting for one side or the other are just wasting time because its not a 1 size fits all type but instead an individuals perception of his or her own mind being clear!

I have used coke and pills... maybe some beers to play marathon 12-48 hour sessions. The biggest scores Ive had especially playing cash games are usually with a line on the side. Of course I dont recommend ANYONE using. Is not for everybody and will break many people. I started using when I was 16 when I formed my 1st band. That was 15 years ago.

It gets me focused and cold. Especially if Im playing live... players try to get ****y o talk shit and my cold cutting replies leave them mindboggled. Pot is great for tilt in my personal experience.

No player will play while doing heroin or acid, thats just stupid. Heroin is for dying, shrooms and LSD is for Pink Floyd, berries and a good sunset.

Personally, I believe that the mind must be pure in the game of poker - no drugs, no alcohol.

Definitely a supporter of anti drugs, poker is just a game and should be enjoyed as it is. Even in the best case drugs does enhance game play, it ain't worth your life, and again, there is still a game of luck

I love Kenzie 96's response lol. I think that this is such a bad idea, drugs alter your thought process, the only drug I would do is caffeine due to the fact that it helps you use more of the brain cells that you already use. The other ones are detrimental to your health and bad for your thought process. so give them a buffet for my opponents as well.

Many drugs work on "inhibitors" in the brain (devices that make us avoid/not do things) This is particularly true for drugs like cocaine and also for alcohol. This leads to a willingness to "take more risks" and in poker thats how you get REKT!

Pot is different somewhat, but the negative effect comes from lack of memory and concentration. One of the features of a good poker player is remembering the behaviors of people at the table. Who is loose? tight? who raises the button? has anyone shove bluffed? (where you saw the showdown)

All of these elements become harder to keep track of when stoned I would suspect.

I recently did a micro experiment with pot for 3 days. All 3 days, I had a negative ROI but was not able to put my fingure on a specific way it changed my play. I dont recommend any alterations for quality play.

I like this forum but I only saw maybe 2 decent responses to this entire thread over the course of 2 years. It makes me not want to be here anymore.


Folks, the fact of the matter is, we all find things which increase our focus power in order to increase our dopamine levels so we can be happier or more 'jacked up'. Whatever it is for you, keep doing it if you are successful. If you aren't consider alternatives.

Weed doesnt keep you awake. Weed is a downer for the most part, there is a difference between Indica and Sativa but it does tend to relax and make people move in a slower pace.

Coke and meth keep you awake. Never tried meth, never will.

Poker and drugs a little incorrectly. The poker is and there is a drugs!!! Remember how do you feel if haven't played in a day at least one tournament. You don't know what to be engaged, in the head a thought that you have missed something interesting.

yep and last week I play against a guy in influence and the guy have no worry about losing or making money. He tell me he see all cards of everybody face down ...lolllll Another guy who thinking was not is favorite sport. But smoking weed

Stims make you play fantastic.

I prefer caffeine+nicotine it enables me to see the board put everyone on ranges and as long as I have had a good meal and some Gatorade to go with it then im a dangerous player. I don't smoke I prefer dip,or nicotine gum plus coffee. If you don't have a huge bankroll and are playing a little short stacked in nl to try to make a move than a beer or 2 enables some courage and looser play pretty good mix when strategy isn't involved. As far as coke I wouldn't know weed would make you a terrible player as you would forget which cards you had and probably play out of turn or something
