I could maybe pay for a snack if I tried :p
Seriously, I have given up on money orientated goals. It wasn't good for me.
It took away the fun for me. I'm now back after few years away from poker and thanks to stupid laws I can only play certain games on pokerstars. Our government put out regulation, so I can't play any freerolls and some other games I used to like.
If I make any money on the side, that's all nice and I will welcome it :) at microstakes where I'm starting now from the beginning, I don't have big ambitions, tho. My goal for now will be winning in women's micro tourneys. The game seems pretty soft. To sum up my rumbling, you can definitely pay for your rent from poker, but it takes a lot of skill and good mindset. As others have said, it also depends where you live :D

nope poker is just a hobby. I think it would be stressful as a primary income unless you have already had large success

Hello.
I play poker for 10 months. Unfortunately, at the moment, poker does not bring me profit. But it is obvious that I have quite good progress in the game. I hope that with experience I will be able to start making a profit.

For sure there are players who manage to live only from poker winnings but i doubt that they are registered in cardschat and write in the general poker section. If i ever manage to earn something serious in poker (over 100$ for example) i promise to share it. :)

I play poker for the pleasure of playing. Money for me is a plus a bonus and not a goal that I must achieve at all costs.

I play poker for about one year. During this time, I spent about 250-300 dollars on the game. I believe that this is a tuition fee. The last two or three months I started playing freerolls and I even managed to increase my bankroll a bit. I hope that with the experience I will be able to receive a decent profit from the game.

I do not play poker in order to have an income to live on it. It would be good if it happened, but I believe it will never happen.
I play for fun and a few profits, that the only change that provides my lifestyle is the purchase of beer, snacks and more chips.

Nothing wrong with a hobby that brings in some extra income, but sitting in a casino or in front of a computer screen to pay the rent, no thanks.

I would like someday to be able to say that poker pays my bills but at this moment it is a question of fun and if I get a dividend it is an extra income in my budget I hope to have the time to devote myself to playing and to be able to say the poker pay not only my accounts but my luxuries jjjeejeje greetings

No poker doesn't pay the bills but I would like to believe that some day it might and if it never does I will always love the game because it all about the challenge

HaHa I'd like to see some Pro Poker players answer this post or this quote even lol It seems we have alot of Pro wanna be players but not many that are living the dream...

Come on be positive and tell us your wins and not so much of your losses lol this thread is wrongly about the "Have's" not the "Have Not's" so if you can afford to spend time writing to this and not raking in the money then tell us your story..

For me, poker is for my enjoyment and it's one of the few hobbies i have that actually pays for itself and sometimes pays for my rent.. not always but it does give a little cash in your pocket.

to this day I do not live with what I earn playing poker ... in the last 6 months I can say that I won playing poker ... but not enough to cover all my monthly expenses of the family ... I hope I can soon achieve it and the most important thing is to have sustainability month after month and thus be able to devote 100% to poker ...!

In order to have a profit from poker, I play freerolls and then I use this money for tournaments. Therefore, I do not have big profits. Annual profits from poker do not exceed my annual salary.

10 to 20 % of your income

It depends if you want to have fun then you should only use 10% of your income to use towards poker. But if you want to make a living from it you will have to learn to deal with the up and down swings of poker. For example, with the upswing you should save most of your earnings and don't up the stakes of your buy-ins until you are only using 10% of your earnings. You WILL go through a downswing no matter how good you get at Poker.

I will not lie.

Until now I have not paid a rent with money earned on poker. In the past I started playing relatively well at the tables, but the feeling that I am a very good player failed me.

I failed to tell tо my employer, that I was leaving, because I earned more money for one night than I did for ~2 weeks work at the company.

its not consistant

I funded vacations with my card table winnings before. I flew to an area with a local Harrahs casino and won about 400.00 usd. Afterwards Harrahs invited me to a tournament. Other times I played live tournaments and lost everything before the buy in period ended. I had pocket kings and lost to a straight.
