Do you think poker still has a bad reputation?

I agree, the tv shows and internet helped people understand that it's not based on pure luck and it's not just some backroom playing with lots of tobacco smoke.

Well before it is misinterpreted I will say my point of view, In movies, games, series, general culture, etc. poker is seen as an addiction where those who play it are mostly criminals such as traffickers, mafia, murderers that everything that involves playing it is a perdition, that for example for older people continue to think the same since it has been instilled in them that the poker or card game is bad, which are illegal gambling where several governments prohibit or restrict poker, so I ask you according to your point of view, does poker no longer have a bad reputation? For me it is a sport like chess.

Poker has gained acceptance, but there will always be die hard opponents. Poker and crime are still viewed by many as the norm. One of the reasons for Black Friday was to put a stop to the number of online poker sites that were laundering money for crime syndicates, so in a way you can't blame them. At least poker sites allowed to do business in the US are monitored much more closely now, or are supposed to be, which helps with public opinion. It is also thought of, and often is, that poker is nothing but the pursuit of money with little or no gains to society. Players like Barry Greenstein (The Robinhood of Poker) has helped to change such public opinion. There's still a long way to go before it's fully accepted, and I personally doubt it will ever truly get there. At least it's not as bad as it was in the eighties, when I played professionally, and my wife and I preferred to keep my profession a secret to family and friends.

I see little interest or effort on the part of players or TV to improve the image of poker so don't expect the image to change much. I do agree that poker is a sport like chess, problem there is chess is not a sport.

It is not and is very wrong that you posted this question which is basically about something negative, because the game of poker is just a way to relax, socialize. negative are the people who look at this game differently, because their eyes are full of evil and they want to make money

Poker is relaxation and fun for most people. Some people can't control themselves and that is the same for all forms of gambling.
Most of those addicted in my country are hooked on the one arm bandits.

Interesting comparison. Frankly a lot of people do play it exactly like they would play roulette. So if that’s the reason for any bad rep it may have, it’s well deserved.

I think what scares people is what r we able to do when we are addicted. if your are winning you are winning no-one can say a thing but once u start loosing and ur addicted u can do some crazy things to get the money to gamble

I would say there is still a stigma of poker being addictive. It has improved over the past 20 years with all the poker being shown on tv. There will always be a segment of the population that thinks poker is bad but you can't win over everyone.
