I have a similar problem, I cannot drink all kinds of energy drinks, so to keep my concentration I drink more and more coffee. It is probably not good for your health.

Only thing I drink when playing is Coffee, Tea, or Coke, all full of caffeine, which keeps my mind sharp, I have also been known to take a couple of Pro-plus tablets before a long tourney as they are over the counter Caffeine tablets that help to keep me alert and awake.
I only start to drink a couple of beers if I make the final table and want to wind down or if I get busted out early.
I never go into a tournament thinking I will win, I make myself 3 targets to go for 1st I want to beat the money bubble, 2nd I want to make the Final table, and last of all do I then start thinking about the win!

When the fun Stops, STOP!

I drink water to hydrate. I drink coffee when I wake up and sometimes a small cup in the afternoon if I've napped in the tropical heat and wake up groggy. Sometimes during a tournament during the break I'll make a glass of tomato juice from 2 parts passata, 1 part water, 1/2 lime and a few drops of hot sauce.

Wine or water works. It’s something that keeps me relaxed and focused.

Do you drink something to perform in poker sessions?

When I play live, I like to drink green tea in part because it’s so much lower in caffeine than coffee that I can almost sip it endlessly without worrying about drinking to much caffeine. At home playing online, I can only get drinks during my 5 min breaks so that naturally limits things a bit—but I do have to keep track of how much coffee I’m having or I could easily wind up drinking too much/getting jittery which could potentially have a negative impact on my play.

If I drink I drink something to feel good, not to play poker. If you drink too much you may lose performance.

No , but I go for a good 15-16 Km run usually done in just under 2 hours gets my blood flowing so I am not antsy and impatient sitting at a computer for potentially 8-9 hours, I try to do normal, human things.. save anything that could potentially alter my cognition until afterwards.. over when I was playing low stakes cash games at casinos, few years since I've done this but would smoke a little bit this would calm me down a bit when meeting new players playing live and kept my poker face golden!!

Also it depends if it morning or night.. don't really like stimulants in the morning ( we just woke up ) because it will cause fluctuations in my play!.. but I am not multi tabling 30+ tables, so....

I’ll drink alcohol if I’m just freerolling and messing around playing micros but ironically since the pandemic I’ve cut down on my alcohol consumption. If it’s an important game then I will have a cup of coffee and drink water. Some good advice: limit your caffeine intake also stay hydrated by drinking water but not too much water.

I’m a distance runner too. There’s nothing like a good long run to start off the day. Some good advice I recently received was to avoid playing cards immediately after a run since the spike in serotonin and endorphins may make the game seem boring.

Sometimes I interfere with rum and cola, or take a couple of beers, but this is definitely not very good for my game, because I only do this when I sit down to kill time, not something serious.
if I sit down to play more seriously, then only tea.

I do not consider it correct to drink alcohol while playing, because you need a sober head and accurate calculation. better to eat chocolate and watch poker broadcasts.

I'm a coffee addict, also, but it tends to wreak havoc with the bladder, so it's hard to hang on until the next break.

I'm trying to switch to water, but I don't think that will change that situation too much. (I do know that caffeine will compress your bladder, and that forces your need to go more often.)

If I'm playing at night, I might switch to tea, or some Irish cream.

I like to drink coffee during the game. I never drank red bull, I had no desire. I do not drink alcoholic beverages while playing. If I drink alcohol, then I lose:D

I drink coffee too.

Whether it is harmful or not I have no idea but I have been drinking it for a long time and not heavily loaded.
