Cash or Tourney?

where do you find the best return...cash tables or tournaments?
I seem to be making the most money on low level cash games in a shorter time that it takes me in a mtt, but I wonder how you all get on.

I play the lower limit cash tables for Hold'em and occasionally STUD (because most people have no clue what they are doing).

I like to enter the $1-$3 and once in a while the $5.50 (NO REBUY) tournaments on PS. The low level cash games is the way to go. I cannot remember the last time I lost money while playing a session of low LIMIT Hold'em.

I've enjoyed good cash game success and some good tournament success.
I've won a $1 stud tournament ($140), won a freeroll provided by this site ($30), and placed in the money in numerous other tournaments.

I would have to agree that low level cash games are the way to go for time versus return on investment.However, that being said you can make a nice return at a poker stars $1-$3 MTT if you can make the final table

I have one more $ in cash games but there is nothing like reaching the final table in a big tourney for me!

I have also lost more money in cash games. In tournies, if you do not place, your losses are limited to your entry. In cash games, there is always the temptation to try and get you money back after a bad beat....this can lead to more losses....

I think that low limit holdem games can pay well, but it's tough because people will play any two cards. you have to be on the lookout and pay attention to your opponents.

I’ve pulled most of my winnings from micro to low stakes tournament play. I find it much more gratifying to make it to the money in a tournament as opposed to big hands at a cash table. I’m too tempted to jet if I win big at a cash table! Guess they have those No Rathole cash tables for players like me lol. Tournament play is a much more effective training ground for me to improve my play

I dont know what is the better way but I think the numbers might be close. The big difference is how you win.

Most really good winning cash players win 10-15 BB per hour. Playing this way will win them some steady cash. Say you play 1/2 for a $200 buy in and play 5 hours you gain on average $50 to $75 You just need to remember this is an average and there will but win and looses.

If you play tournaments, the win and looses can swing a lot. The difference when you win one can be huge. Base on a tournament I won recently with 600+ players and won 116 + buy ins. Now lets take that same $200 buy in and place in on a tournament about the same as I played and you would have won me $23,263.35. This huge payout is nice when it happens and you never will do this on a cash game but on a bad cash day you may lose your $200.00 buy in. In a tournament structure you will lose $200.00 80-90% of the time.

Personally, I would play what you enjoy most. For me cash is like work. Its just a grind. Tournaments is a game that brings me excitement and the thrill of victory is what drive me to win.

Hello. I agree with others about choice. I love to play MTTs. It is a challenge to make the money and it is a very good way to test my skills and my gameplay styles. I have less interests in cash games, but I do take a shot at it every once in awhile.

That's it))) I lost all my tournament winnings in cash games) On PS, the minimum withdrawal is $ 100, as I won there $ 94 in the tournament and could not win in the cash game 6 more to withdraw, in the end I had 0 on the balance) Still I will only play tournaments for a while now)

it totally depends on your stake and bankroll and on the feeling that you have for game selection. I believe in the tourney if you run good and be ready for all the downswings throughout the entire game you are gonna hit the jackpot and win big money. however live cash games are much better than online cash games

I love playing in tourneys for the simple reason that for little or even no stake dreams can come true. recently I watched a video of one of the PCA events where one player who had no job and lived with his mother won a place in the main event for a $1 satellite tourney.
More amazing was he walked away from the final table with $166,000 for him life changing money.
Dreams can come true!
I myself came so very close to winning a week in Vegas from a free-roll tourney and a seat in a tourney out there for a £50,000 1st prize.
