Another thing.. I shaved this morning... And I hadn't shaved at all during the win streak (Coincidence?! I THINK NOT)...

Hmmm, Is the no shaving thing only for playoffs?! I sure hope it is.... If the Leafs lose vs Nashville I take full responsibility.

No, I think you're good with the shaving. I'm pretty sure that jinx is only a playoff thing.

But you just might have to own up to any loss we take for that last post. :/

Pretty dull game apart from the FREAKEN AMAZING save by Raycroft..

Not many shots on net... was pretty boring if you ask me... Leafs offensivly were no where near their best, Which is great news.. It's good to have the Leafs finally win a game when the team was not playing so great.. I think if the team played their best it would easily have been 4-1 or 5-1.. Raycroft is the exception of course..

What sucks is that even tho the Leafs have won 5 straight and 8 of their last 10... They have barely moved up in the standings... It really pisses me off to see two eastern teams that are contending for playoff's go into OT... And why is it whenever the Leafs are in a playoff push, and playing well.. The rest of the damn east starts winning games.. This happend last year, the only difference is the Leafs are starting their push a bit earlier..(Which obv is good)

Anyways, I predict montreal will drop to 7th~10th in the east come playoff time, and Toronto will move into anywhere from 5th~8th really..

Tough game on thurs... Nashville sure is hot, but they won't stop the leafs win streak!

You know you touch on one of the big problems with the NHL nowadays. If a team wins a game in regulation time it is worth 2 points to the winner, 0 to the loser for a total of 2 points. Then it goes to overtime and all of a sudden it is 2 points to the winner and 1 to the loser for a total of 3 points.
As an example of how this is affecting thins, right now Pittsburg has 63 points, Carolina has 61 and Toronto has 60. However if you get rid of the 3 point games and just give the winner 2 points and the loser 0 then all three teams are tied at 60 points. So it punishes teams that aren't good at shootouts, which is no more than a silly skill contest.

Incidentally, the leafs will finish in 9th-10th and Montreal will finish in 6th-8th. The leafs will hit another slump and the habs won't slump forever, however I do think that Montreal was playing a little above thier level earlier in the year... oh well.

You make a great point Shoestring regarding the points theory, but you don't want me getting into all that b/c I remember the day when they changed the whole concept and it was overwhelming discussed and argued in my house for weeks. Oh and by the way I think you miss printed your last post! hehehe I know you meant to say the leafs will finsh 6th-8th and Montreal 9th-10th.

Not a misprint at all actually.... however when the standings at the end of the year show me to be right, I'll gladly quote my above prediction in approximately 1000 consecutive replies :D

Yes I hate how it works out too... Teams are playing safe deliberately
just to get at least 1 point, then go for the extra point after they have secured one.. Not good for the game imo.

I still think leafs will finish top 7, our team this year is a 4 line team rather then previous years where it's been a one line team.. We have scoring coming from every line, Our defense is among the top defenses in the league offensivly.. And definitly isnt the worst defensivly.

Toronto has done pretty good this year considering the situation.. A new goaltender, a new coach... And a whole crapload of injuries.. for a good chunk of the time we ahd 4 of our top forwards out.. We are just starting to get healthy (Even tho we are missing two of our top forwards, being Wellwood and Tucker.. Their return will be a nice boost to our pp.. As well as missing Peca which will obviously increase our PK dramatically)

I don't think the leafs will fall into a slump.. The earlier slump was just Raycroft not being in his groove, and obviously all the injuries. If Raycroft can keep playing how he is there is no doubt in my mind we will make the top 8.

Predictions -

1) New Jersey
2) Buffalo
3) Pittsburgh
4) Atlanta
5) Ottawa
6) Toronto
7) Montreal
8) Tampa

Will be interesting to see how close these predictions are (Altho it's a toss up really... so tight )

Impossible - Pitt can't finish 3rd with Jersey in 1st. Top 3 spots are for division leaders. According to your predictions, the Thrashers would be 3rd. Buffalo won't give up the lead in the Eastern conference. Carolina will get hot and they will also make the playoffs.

1) Sabres
2) Devils
3) Thrashers
4) Senators
5) Penguins
6) Lightning
7) Canadiens
8) Hurricanes

Sorry Leaf fans, but your team probably won't make the playoffs this year. Raycroft just isn't that consistant. I know how you feel though, the Oilers aren't going to make it this year either.:( :(

Woops didnt realize I did that... anyways just switch thrashers to third and pburgh to 4th

And I'm staying faithful to my team! The only questionable thing on the team is Goaltending (Which unfortunatly is a huge part of being a playoff team) as I said as long as Raycroft stays hot for the rest of the season we are good..... And maybe our slow defense, but Gill and Kubina can dive and poke the puck away from someone that is like freaken 10 feet away..

That game vs Islanders pretty much sum's up the reason why I DESPISE shootouts.

Leafs were CLEARLY the better team... Islanders played 5 minutes decently in the whole game.. and the rest was purely Toronto.. Yet because of the grand idea of adding shootouts, the undeserving team wins.

AGH. Words cannot describe my frustration with that game.

I approve of this post 100%... Dipietro and the goal post won the game...

Anyways great to see Bataglia Devereaux and Kilger really romping.... Which makes me wonder why Bataglia wasn't picked as one of our 3 shooters.. I would have picked Bataglia, Sundin and Kaberle.. just because kaberle saved a few goals and was probably feeling pumped

I miss Wellwood :(

Leafs still have a huge chance of making the playoffs.. with Montreal continuing to struggle... They are only 2 points ahead, and we have a game in hand.. Carolina is only up 3 points and leafs have 2 games in hand.. So I'm still not worried.. And I don't think the Islanders will win many more games, at least not without yashin.

NO MORE NEGATIVE ENERGY FROM YOU!

Montreal @ New Jersey tonight my boy Brodeur (Hart Trophy winner if things keep going as is) will definitly stick it to them... And Montreal will continue to slide down in the standings. Their early season win's were undeserving and I believe it's just catching up to them now.

Another Canuck here, rabid leafs fan as well. I have to say, the leafs are really making it tough on themselves. They'll be lucky to make the playoffs. That being said, Sudin has been playing his heart out, the team doesn't have the horses to win.

Where does everyone play online? I play on poker room.

Cheers and GL

I'm willing to put money up that the Leafs make the playoffs, any takers?

I am normally one that loves to take bets (just for the sake of it sometimes), but I do agree that the Leafs will make the playoffs. Montreal's been slipping and Toronto is playing good lately. Plus the Habs have played one more game then them. Should be a good race to watch down the stretch.

Only a 7 point difference between 3rd and 10th in the East and Toronto is playing those teams a lot more for the remainder of the season then Montreal is so they could hold their own fate. Will be interesting if it comes down to the last game of the season where they play each other.

At least you guys have a playoff run to look forward to, I just have my teams firesale to look forward to which should be starting soon. I'm sure Guerin and Tkachuk could help a number of teams right now.

Habs continue to slide... Leafs face Philladelphia tonight, should be a good game.. Don't think it will be a walk in the park due to Philadelphia's play as of late.. Romped detroit 5-1.. and had quite a few OT games vs top teams.

And then sat, it's Montreal vs Carolina! Whatever the results I will be please! (Except no OT please!)

This is the leafs chance to get into the playoff spots!

That's what happened to us last night.

Vancouver and Minnisota are ahead of us and what happens?? It goes to OT, make sit a three point game which makes it even more difficult to catch them. :(

Montreal officially moves out of the playoff spot.. and Leafs are officially... still out.. But will be in soon! Tied in points and games played with islanders, Carolina has only 1 point more and has played 2 more games, Tampa is 4 points ahead, we have a game in hand. But I doubt we will catch tampa tho.. They are pretty hot.

So basically we just need to keep winning, Islanders wont continue their winning... especially when their next 3 games are New Jersey, Pburgh, Toronto.

That spot is ours! And if it makes the oil fan's feel anybetter.. I wish tommorow's game goes into OT.. but leafs winning obviously.

Oh my god, 30ish games left? Buckle up boys.
