I used to play poker while drinking many times but i've already finished.Since about 2years i play only with clear headed but i understand people whos play a poker on the booze It raise experience.
Once I start drinking , and playing poker I can get very loose. Playing hands I wouldn't play. A lot of the time, playing hands I normally wouldn't play. Doing 2 things I love to do is alright with me.
I never drink playing poker unless it is with friends only, fun game. But anyone I am playing against is more then welcome to drink as much as they want. The more the better for me hahahaha.
One of my worst bad beats came while playing in New Orleans. Hit the room after running around all night and let's just say that I was a wee bit toasty. Sat down at a 2/5 and was running hot, of course I felt invincible.
After about 2 hours of play we are into the early morning hours. The table is full and running a bit loose. I'll never forget the the grizzled old fella sitting in seat two. He sat there sipping on his coffee just watching and waiting. Of course I didn't notice because I was doing the exact opposite.
And then the brutal beatdown came because I wasn't tracking the board and players. I don't remember my position, only my hand - QQ. I came in with a solid raise the table folded down to the grizzled old fella who called. The flop came and a Q hits the board, my eyes light up like a Christmas tree. Also on the flop was a JT. I led off with another strong raise and was called.
My mind was just seeing dollar signs at this point and not even reading the red flags. Had I been paying attention I would have realized that I was running dead at this point. The turn came with a blank and I pushed all in thinking what a poker genius I was. The old fella didn't even blink with his call. He flopped the nuts with AK.
I sat back sipped my drink and was now sober after receiving a serious haircut.
That was a very expensive lesson. Don't drink and play poker.
Alcohol and poker are incompatible, I have seen this many times, it is impossible to control the game, I very often do not take deliberate steps, very often take risks
I don't think that alcoholism is the same as poker. It is like driving..you can be still good at in for a moment but working more effective and safe without it.
But if playing poker has little stake, why not. If it makes you happy, do it.
I believe that poker and alcohol are incompatible. It interferes with thinking, and in the game you will lose. I advise you to be more careful with alcohol, it is very harmful to health.
First of all, I lead the healthy image of life (only sometimes I can a few to drink in the big holidays: Birthday, NewYear),
secondly, now I'm play only the tournaments, and thirdly, if only, how notice or advice: I think to play the cash games drunk
is especially dangerous, because if in the tournament can lose only buy-in, then how in the cash may to lose the ALL!
