Maybe your position is that tournaments are held faster than cash games when you sit and wait for the right card?

I have the same problem as thread creator. I dont know when to stop playing cash game, until i realize that im broke... Thats why i love tournaments (freerolls and buy ins), pay once and play as long as you can. And if i survive to the place when its payoff i'm happy and proud.

I prefer tournaments too. I mostly stick to sit n go's, particularly single table ones due to time constraints.

I love playing poker but I find myself only enjoying playing Sng's or tournaments 95% of the time. I think it's due to the fact that in cash games you can come to the table with a person(s) with bankrolls that are vastly greater than yours and this puts you at a extreme disadvantage. I like the fact that in Sng's and tournaments everyone starts with the same chip stack, in my opinion this makes for a better game.

I like both, but I am more nervous and tight in cash games being beginner. I like trying more hands and bet sizes in tournaments especially freerolls, but overall I'm probably still too tight and passive in both types of play.

When you don’t have then playing time and knowledge of cash games it can be very difficult to navigate. I’m a fan of cash games as a grind and way to make consistent income from poker. I use tournaments for its value. If you don’t put the time into cash then it will never be worth playing

I share the same mindset as you. by dint of losing all my banckrolls. I prefer to play spin and go because not only we play against two opponents but in addition we can come across a good multiplier. even if the variance is rarely on my side and I continue to suffer losses. I do not intend to change my strategy.

I wouldn't be able to enjoy poker if it wasn't a cash game, whenever I play for play money I get discourage. I think the thrill of winning cash is a major turn on for me when it comes for poker. But i would like to mention that I have a strong distaste for cash games of chance that do not involve strategy or skill.

I can relate! I don’t enjoy cash games nearly as much as tournaments, but I still play some cash for a couple main reasons. It can be more convenient to play when I’m only working with a limited amount of time, and it’s also a great way to work on my deep-stacked game for hours at a time :)

I like tournaments too. In cash games there is no excitement as in the tournament.

I also prefer tournaments and I do not like cash games because in cash you enter with a certain amount and do not have many short winnings despite having to play long prose in a tournament spike the short praso you can get a great money increasing your enrollment many times.

Cash games no. MTT and SNG the way to go

Cash games for me are too much pressure. MTT and SNG, it's all upside, I know my buy-in is just a cost of doing poker. I feel "luckier" when my whole experience isn't determined by one hand, like in a cash game.

My ROI is much higher for MTT. As a default, Tournaments is my preferred game. Playing live though, it seems to work better because of time constraints.

I personally like tourney's over cash games. The one thing about cash games I like is sometimes I can hit hard early and be out. I normally play cash when there are no tournaments available like right now. I remember what I go in with and try to at least maintain that threshold. Also tournaments can go a long time and if I have an early morning but just want to get a fix, I will hop in cash game for an hour or two.

I also do not like cash games because due to the fixed blinds everybody can wait for good hands (especially if they multitable) and bad beats are frequent. You should be very careful with pot control and you can easily loose everything that you had won in a single hand. MTT has much less risk if you have good bankroll management - you can never loose more than your buyin.

Live Tournaments

The cash game buy in at my local casino is too high for my bankroll. The last time I played, my kings got busted by the table fish with A10. I lost $150 in one hand. I enjoy tournaments because I know how much I'll lose if I get eliminated.

I use my cash game winnings to finance why tournament play. I like both.

I like this option, I also follow this example. Low limits are a good sponsor for MMT games. Good to have a spare airport that can help you. Сan not say that I am opposed to cash, I like both options.

You are not alone in this situation. I also do not attract cash tables. They just annoy me. I like tournaments more. If there is an action and you need to play at least one hand at the cash tables to get a ticket to the tournament, I don’t play more than one hand.

Think a lot of people are in the same boat, S&G is a fixed amount and your happy to commit that and possibly lose that amount, cash you enter with a fixed amount also but normally more than a S&G then you get the larger stack randomly attacking any play making you commit about 20 S&Gs you bail and feel bad. it's a game for me of bullying your oppo. each to there own if you can handle the situ you can develop your thinking.

Trying to see if I am alone in my distaste for cash games.

There are plenty of reasons, but perhaps it is because I began playing poker with sit and gos and got used to the finality of it and developed strategies and mindsets that don't work with cash games.

Most of all is of course because I find little success in them, but that is mostly due to the very simple fact that I do not enjoy them as much as I enjoy tournaments. The competitive nature of tournaments is thrilling, the "pay once and play" nature of it is far more relaxing than the stresses of not knowing how much you might lose. Also, as I said, I love the finality of tournaments. I rarely know when to quit a cash game and therefore don't maximize my profits. I love playing so much to the point that I don't really want to stop playing, so even if I'm doing great in a cash game, I will somehow manage to play until I'm broke.

So it's a matter of mindset for me, and I understand that this post probably reads as a bit infantile or naive but I'm just looking to see other opinions.

I had this problem and I still do sometimes if I player higher stakes or if I am on a shot at higher limits. When I am winning I feel the urge to walk away from the table to secure my winnings even though I am playing my A game and I am running hot.
Huge mindset problem.
But then when I start loosing even though I don't feel like playing anymore and I am giving money away I stay until I loose so much that can't handle it or I breakeven/win marginally.

I think having the right mindset is what makes the difference.
Think about it.
If the game consists of all regs and all the regs play the same or similar game then whoever has more flaws in their mindset is going to lose.
So working on it is a big part of growing as a poker playey IMO.

I also prefer tournaments than cash games. Tournaments have always been more profitable for me, but cash games have always been unprofitable. So, in fact, I no longer play cash games, only in tournaments.

One reason I like tourneys over cash is the fact that my bankroll has been crippled for as long as I have played. The 'pay once and play' style of freezeout, bounty, survivor, sit-n-go tournaments is def my preferred style of poker as I know that once your stack is exhausted, you are out and cannot rebuy your way back in. I shot 2 bullets in the Big 50 already (holy ***** longest re-entry line ever!), and have more sessions with the Colossus, and the Deepstack Championship [emoji111]️
