With a short stack there's less implied odds both for and against you. You should be playing less of the speculative hands like small pps and suited connectors. You should be pushing hard with the premium hands. I like playing short stacked because it punishes villains for chasing draws.

I used to go all in liberally with a short stack against loose preflop raisers and get calls from hands I am ahead of almost all the time (a good thing). Then BOL forced everyone to buy in with 100bbs and now I do more postflop maneuvering.

I advise you to play more carefully with a small stack and not to get hot. Stop playing different suits and singles below A10, and look more closely at any pair of cards to play a 50/50% all-in.

Its all I play after finding some stuff on the net.. Watch my twitch channel. Just about to move up to 5NL so it might be of interest.

I am crap at poker odds so it suits me playing with a min buyin.

Try finding a very loose passive table with lots of limpers then buy in min.
On even just decent tables without big fishies you are only limiting your own options
and would be better of buying in max and don't forget to study if you feel some part of your game is lacking.
To be a successful short stacker requires quite a bit of patience with table and seat selections.

I always buy more chips when I get short stacked in a cash game. It only takes one hand to get even and you've gotta have the ammo to make that happen when the opportunity presents its self.

Its important to understand your opponents when playing short-stacked - you can chip up considerably if you target certain opponent tendencies

What type of tendencies? - Overfolding hands, playing too tight
Aggressive player tendencies of OPR a little too wide from certain positions and taking advantage of BvB raises

In a cash game?

Don't lol. Play full stack to get maximum value. There's no point in spending a huge amount of time learning a strategy that won't yield you a huge amount of EV. You essentially lose the ability to multi street bluff effectively and I think you'll have a difficult time putting villains on a range because everyone will play vs short stacks differently

I've always bought in for the max as I've always thought that with a proper bankroll, there's more to "double up" with a bigger stack.

I'm at a point where I'm challenging my own habits. I understand you have to play with a tighter range with a short stack and try and get it all in when you think your ahead, probably more likely of getting called by bigger stacks on speculative hands.

But I dunno. I'm used to playing 100bb and wil continue for a while.
