Should you play really short sessions cash games?

I think you can very well do it, if:
a) Your progams are all set up and ready to go fast. You can’t spend typical 3 to 5 minutes in obvious reasons
b) You play zoom
c) You do small mental practice before hopping in to fast tune your mind

At least for me, I can only maintain A game 30 minutes, and 10 minutes is 33% of that so not too bad. However I feel that every minute over 10 minutes is crucial, so for example 12 minutes would clear yes, for 10 you need some hocus pocus.

A short session imo would be 40 min. 10 min is just too short, not enough time for you to put your mind in poker.

Not enough time imo...need to have enough time to get reads on opponents and focus on the game instead of the clock.

If you want to play for just 10 minutes I recommend playing zoom, otherwise its just waste of money, you won't have the time to get some good reads or time for the right crads to come. Zoom on pokerstars is really funny though, more hands faster and weak players

When you havent much time, you should try to find a good table. First you have to watch the opponents a few hands and analyze them.
Then sit start playing and be careful, because the time is short.
But for this you need at least 25 minutes, I think

Not enough time, you should take your time to choose the correct table (flop players, avg pot).
Then sit down, and watch your opponets so as to have a feeling of how do the play.
After that you can think about starting to play.
(Time elapsed +/- 20 min) :p

Sometimes if I have 10 minutes to spare I'll jump in and play, is this a bad idea and why?

Not a good idea, you wont have enough time to find a good table and a good amount of hands to analyze the players.

If you only have 10 minutes or so, you might think of playing zoom rather than a strictly cash table. At least with zoom, you may see enough hands in that period to make it worth your while and not just see 25 or 30 hands, lose half your stack and have to leave table.

Short sessions of 10 min are not good , either it's zoom table or not .
If it's a normal table I want at least 1 hour of game when I am going to play , cause I need time , time to select my table , to see my villains' style , to enjoy my game .
If it's a zoom/snap fold kinda game table , I want the same amount of time to enjoy it or at least half an hour to 40 minutes to have some good odds to play some decent big hands .

Maybe like a Zone/Zoom format, but then you're trading the ease of a "quickie" session for the increased variance of the format probably.

Overall, not a good idea. As others said you need time to adjust to the table, get a few reads, and of course manage the natural ebbs and flows of the ups and downs of your stack you may experience.

It will be just naughtiness, no more. Even ZOOM poker playing use to have longer time spending. More hand you play, better hand range you can analyzed.

I would class an hour or less short, maybe not always at the same table, it does depend on the run of the cards and the players at the table how long to stay, if you have a playing strategy regarding win and loss compared to your stack this may also dictate your time frame

Poker is a game of distance

Poker is a game of distance. In order to get some result, you need to play at least a few hours, and even this is probably not enough. If you play 10 minutes, then this is a lottery, lucky or unlucky. I think it's a bad idea to play at such short intervals if you want to win. I usually choose a free evening or a free night and spend only time on poker and then in most cases I achieve a good result.

Maybe it depends on the person because for me I have to warm up for an hour or two to get myself into the zone

The general consensus seems to be no, you need time to observe the table and get to know your opponents.

This seems to me a bit like saying your team lost a game because it was raining, as though the raindrops didn't hit the other team's players too.

If you don't know anyone at the table, well, they don't know you either. Observing other players (or using a HUD) and using that information wisely is a skill that you can use. It's also a skill that others can use against you.

If you are sitting at a table where you are much better than your opponents, you will not be able to maximize your advantage. But most players are not long-term winners. And the ones who are tend to move up in stakes until their advantage is slight (though significant in the long term).

Play a little nitty pre- and post- flop, and you'll be fine.

I absolutely second this for reasons of hands played in the amount of time and the negligible benefit of paying attention or using HUD in 10 minutes means that you may as well play the type of cash game where this matters the least.
