Just give up now.

Indeed so. :) I just wanted to jump in and act like a monkey along with everyone else for a moment. Guilty!

To be honest I hope the cash/chat community here at CC can lift themselves out of this odd sort of mire that the chat thread has become.

I think the thread can be fun but at the same time provide a place to talk about poker concepts.

The fact of the matter is there are some very experienced players who lurk around here. And I imagine they find it kind of hard to want to go to the trouble to post serious insight when the general tone is so, well, stupid.

I don't mean to sound sanctimonious, as I am just a big goofball myself and don't really add much. But I would love to see the community thrive. CC has been unique in that the general tone of the forum has tended to be a little less "animated boob gif avatar" than other forums. But unfortunately the level of poker knowledge might be a little shy of the "animated boob gif" forum too.

The problem is we are giving the other forum a serious run for it's money in regards to the childish antics while LOWERING the bar on the poker side.

The resources are here. There are folks here who know how to play the game and some of them don't mind talking about poker too! Stu Unger is a great example. He loves to talk practical theory. Same with Chuck, WVH, Jagsti, Riley, and many others (don't be offended if I left you out of my insta-list).

But why would serious players want waste their time when for the most part they would be doing so in a situation where the signal to noise ratio is so incredibly bad.

Very good post.

There has to be a balance imo. Yeah we need a thread to talk random stuff as cash game players (and our mtt/sng wannabes :p) but lets not turn April chat thread into this utter cluster **** of a thread. We need to actually include some poker content in next months thread.

I am really just a recreational player. And yes I know what that means, and I mean it when I say it. ;) I play at a level where I can sustain (in the bad times) and grow (in the good times) my bankroll. This means I play 5nl tops. This is where I can beat the game without worrying about ever going busto. It is very possible that at a level where the value shove gets removed from my repertoire I am no longer profitable. ;)

So I cannot offer the same insight as guys who are profitable 50nl and up players.

I just love the game. I like playing it. I like thinking about it. And I LOVE every time I htink I really get it I see the next level coming over the horizon and realize once again I don't get it as well as I thought I did.

I remember one time some TV poker hostess asked Ivey what game was too small. He answered quickly and seemingly honestly. "Oh, I'll play for free. I just love the game."

Seems I have ONE thing in common with him!

Anyway. I will try to contribute in April. Even if my contribution is to show what NOT to do at the table.

Oh the spoilering is a nice touch there. I should also do it.

Chuck... that's some serious amount of pokertalk we are expecting from you now.

(But save it for April. There is no hope here.)
