Starting hand odds don't lie.... if you go to showdown.... meaning all the way to the river. AA only wins 3 out of 10.

Wrong

Ahh don't know where you heard that. Aces will win about 8/10 times vs the next closest hand equity wise.

AA vs pp(not AA) in a heads up situation is 80/20 so in that case AA will win 8 out of 10 times.

Right

Again, not sure where you got this mis-information. Perhaps you could let us know which 'Starting hand odds' you are referring to, so that we will be able to tell you how you have mis-interpreted it

I would personally never play anything under .10/.25 but that is because I feel my time is worth more than the few dollars an hour that may be able to be won at the lowest possible levels. I think you will start to see differences in play between the 25NL level to the 50NL level. 50NL to 100 NL there is also a large gap in play. Generally speaking though without a min of 15 buyins for these levels you risk going on a loosing streak or tilt and really impacting your bankroll.

Patience is the key. Hey just have a goal to win $1 a day for a month. That's $30 then double that to $2 a day the next month.

Rake notwithstanding, the money has to go to somebody. My comment would be that if you can't beat your current stakes, you almost certainly won't be beating higher stakes with tougher players.

Edit: Replied reading only the title and not the post (I do that a lot). It looks like you want to go from 5NL to 100NL. Disregard my previous remark. I think you should go ahead and do this as long as you tell me your sn.

To funny dude "tell me your sn" HAHAHAHA

I started with a single $50 deposit playing one table of .5/1 limit poker way back in the day. Bonuswhored and gradually increased my tables played the first year or so. Switched to NL in 2007.

Played with a 100 buyin roll from 2008-2011 on Stars. Since BF, I play with super small rolls and redeposit as needed. I've had too much money stolen from the smaller sites since BF to risk big rolls there.

After this comment I'm going to assume you are a US player. Any advice you could give a fellow US player going down the same road you have already taken?

from what i've seen US friends say , Bovada for soft games, carbon if you want to use a hud , and winning network if you have no life and can grind 30+ tables for 10+ hours a day day in day out. And lock if you hate money , and hate full tables or even any tables running and have no expcetation of ever cashing out.

Yeah I'm pretty hilarious. That was probably the wittiest post.... of all time.

Thanks for the bump so that I could relive the moment.

OP -

I feel your pain, realise you are following a well trodden path. I am going through the same process, but am further down the road.

Here's what you need to do:

1) Stay at low stakes, do not go to higher stakes until you are ready.
2) Learn to manage your bankroll.
3) Work on knowing what hands are worth playing and what to fold.
4) Learn about position.
5) Understand variance, you will lose a lot of hands that you feel entitled to win. When it happens, shrug it off and move on. Good play pays in the long run.
6) Study, ask questions, stay positive. I was recommended this book, I have to say it's made a huge difference: http://www.blackrain79.com/p/book.html

Have a look at my blog and see how I deal with the very position you are in.

So far this month I am being absolutely crushed, I have played over 4,000 hands and I am down 32BB/100.

I have learnt that some of this is down to bad play, so it's a learning point. A lot of it is due to variance, and it stinks, it's so annoying. I am losing many, many hands when I am hugely ahead, but I know I play the hand well, and it's just variance. I have enough bankroll to ride the storm.

So, dig in, play solid ABC poker, and stick with it. When you can steadily win an average of 3-5 bb /100 you're doing OK. Then ask what to do next.

I am not there yet, but getting there.
