Only way I'm ever folding KK pre, barring some extremely rare (as in, I don't recall it ever happening in a real game, only in game theory discussion) soul-read on a min-reraise from a nit that convinces me I'm against AA, is *possibly* on the bubble of a satellite or DoN where I have a lock on 1st prize and there are shorties going out any hand. In that case it's sometimes correct to fold AA as well.

Bubble in a regular tourney though? I'm getting it in preflop all day long.

You certainly can fold KK preflop if you have someone's range at KK+.

That said, games are so aggressive I don't see how you can restrict someone's range so narrowly because very few people are folding QQ/AK pre for 100 BBs.

there are definitely times when folding KK preflop is the right play, especially in full ring

I don't fold KK preflop in a FR cash game for 100bb or under unless the guy is a supernit, like 7/5 and even then I don't always fold. It only gets interesting when it's deeper than 100bb imo. The thing is, they are always getting it in versus you as well. So it's just not really that important of a situation in the long run.

If he raises the top 5% if his range why are you ever folding Kings pre ever?

because he is not stacking that 5%. if he was shoving 88+,AJs+,KQs,AKo (5%) then he would not be considered a nit

I think KK could be folded live to a super tight-passive player.

Online, no.

OK OK, vs FR nits I can see myself perhaps folding to a cold 5bet shove or something... maybe! :p

On an vaguely related note, have you read this before? http://tommyangelo.com/articles/the-worst-play-ever/

How about you and me starting a thread with just one hand posted in the spirit of the above post by Mr Angelo?

I dont think it takes a great player to lay down KK (or AA for that matter) pre. I can see the once in 1000 case where I may lay down KK pre, like to a 6/4 who raises my 3x and he gets pushed on by a 6/3 and we are all >100BB. Something like that. Sure. Maybe........ But then again, maybe I aint folding here, ever, and that one in a 1000, well, I still got the other 999, so I am ok with that.....

But laying down KK (or AA) after the flop...... That is a thing a bad player does not seem to want to learn how to do.

I am saying this cause I have seen a lot of games lately (5nl) where the guys with AA-KK pre go all the way to the river no matter what happens.

I have done this myself as well, but I go back and try to discover why I would play so blindly. Cause when I lose a big pot in this case, it was so often avoidable.

Not saying you cant catch a fish with a big pair, but you can get caught just as easy.

I think youare missing important information in your post, the villain is tight, but whatis your style, lag tight? If you 3bet villain constantly even the tightestplayers will eventually 4 bet.

This comment is just nonsense. Im not advocating folding KK preflop im just saying there are definitely times (although very few) when folding KK preflop is the right play, and saying folding KK preflop is Big -EV as if you've got the game sussed is wrong because there's always a place for everything in poker.
