This is an idea I've come up with for players trying to improve their overall game play. Finding and fixing leaks in your game takes more than just asking questions on a specific hand, but your overall game play. Do you play too tight? Do you play too loose? Did you call when you should've folded? Did you fold when you should've called? And other questions that determine you gameplay.

My idea is to have another member watch you play and then both can analyze how the game was played. Say you play on FTP and you're having trouble playing micro SNGs, I could sit on the rail and watch how you play, note any errors I might see, and then we could discuss how you could improve you game. Hand histories can be saved for better discussion as well.

Anybody interested?

I'd be into it, philthy.

I'm mostly on pokerstars, have an account at FTP but no cash, but I could watch.

Do you have MSN/Yahoo?

Sounds good, I am playing on partypoker at the moment (from Australia). Unfortunately I gather most people on the forum live in the States and probably don't play here. If there is anyone who does however, I would like to give this a go.

Watching during a hand doesn't help that much, and it can take a long time for MTTs, plus it's hard to give a good analysis if you can't see the player's hand.

We've done analyses on whole tournaments before with the HH files - haven't done it in a bit, but I know I did a few, and some others were done too. Basically a HA of a whole tourney.

Yup, that's why I asked about MSN/Yahoo. I thought the first thing the player would do is type their cards in the messaging program. Voice connection might work even better, although I have no experience with voice over IM programs. Might be tight time-wise UTG, but then most of those should be folded anyways.

Length-wise it could be whatever they want to do, I would think.

I've done this HA a few times with ChuckTs, Dorkus, and FPaul helping analyze my sessions and I've done it for others on here. If you send me a HH, I'll analyze a session for you.

Im on bodog and would love to be critiqued or trade critique.

I usually play $10 - $50 rooms depending on when I last cashed out / bankroll.

Overall I think Im a decent player. I think my biggest flaw is pre flop weakness. Im tight but don't raise alot pre flop. Some people see it as slow playing (limping in with good pockets). I see it as cautious and if I can see the flop for cheap to see if I hit my trip or pair up then why not.

I'm intested in a study partner. Assuming that we'd take turns kibitzing each other. The problem would be finding someone about the same level.

I'd rather do it by phone... I have unlimited cell calls Fri-Sun. I'm California time, so would be pretty late. Usually after 9pm.

I dont know if that would be a good idea or not, considering first of all that its to hard to keep track of the other persons cards to know what there playing at all times, and two everyone has a diferant playing style. So what one might think is a good play someone els might think otherwise. Me and my Husband for exaple are bothe good poker players but we definantly have differant styles and I really try to just sit back and keep my mouth shut because alot of time if i give my apinion and its not what he was thinking it just makes him lose confidence in his plan and can have a bad outcome.

OP, sounds like a great idea. Actualy the first time I hear this, instead of going thru hand histories or posting hands. Observing in real time . ... nice.

Observer and player could also be in touch via skype aim or similar to inform whole cards. I`m interested, I usualy play 100NL, but am grinding 50NL due to cashouts and some HU tilt stupidity. What levels do you play at ? Also, Observer could take notes regarding some specific hands played and then could discuss them afterwards going thru the hand histories.

I like the idea that someone would be willing to take a look at my hh. I will get a copy of a recent tourney and tell me what I can do to get better. I'll be in touch!

This is usually called sweating. It is usually done across some sort of instant messaging service and you tell your sweater what your hole cards are and they watch you play. I have one respect friend who trades sweats with me several times a month. It is definitely a good way to improve your game and also a good way to have an occasional checkup.

I also have helped set up the session reviews over at 2+2 where people pair up and then swap 100-200 hands and review them for each other. This is another good way to improve you game.

I would suggest that a new player start with session reviews to get the real bare bone fundamentals down. Sweating is better for fine-tuning, imo.
