in cash games, there is less pressure and more opportunities for skill. you need a little more in-depth knowledge of the game.

Here are some important points about the tournament:
1- The tournament could raise and make a good BR for you . Of course, if you are in the final table.
2-You get more experience in the tournament and you play with a lot of players.
Aside from these two things you need to know is how to bluff and play with your hands. The suffering of the tournament can be very different from the suffering of the CG.
For example, in the 6-player CG, you can play your game with more open range, but in the tournament, you have to play with more restrictions and try to constantly increase your stack.

Cash game vs mtt

Hello everyone, If the advantage of cash tables is that you play when you have time and at the time you want, also another advantage is your bankroll, since if you have a good strategy and a game plan it will be widely profitable, in change in tournaments will not always end in paid positions, I also started in tournaments and now I am playing cash, greetings and luck.

Hi guys, I recently played cash games because I used to play only tournaments but now I only play cash games. I can't say that I win more than in tournaments, but at least I have free time. Do you think that cash games are the better option in this case?:bandit:

Unless you are a solid professional in the business of poker, I would always recommend to play cash, and only cash.
Tournaments seem very attractive for new players and even some regulars that are good, but not enough to live only by playing MTTs or SNGs.
What new players usually don't know is that tournaments are games of high variance such as PLO, some variants of Omaha, etc, which means we can play hundreds of tournaments without getting ITM in even one of them.
It is very possible and happens everytime, plus tournaments demand an absurd ammount of time/quality of life, and we cannot simply abandon the tables whenever we want.
To play some tournaments you must have savings for at least an year, and you must have a schedule where you must play at least 8 hours per day, everyday, in order to start thinking about profit in tournaments.
I have friends in my country that are regulars and use to play MTTs of 200 bucks the buy-in and sometimes they get over an year without winning any MTT, but suddenly one of them text me telling that they hit the first place in the Sunday Million.
Cash Games will give you time, quality of life and more certain profits, so IMO, for most of beginners and medium/average players is the best psychological/mental health option.

I believe personally that cash games are much better for gaining experience and learning as you get into many more spots than you would in tournaments. However, which is better is completely up to you and what you are trying to achieve.

As you say time, if time is a big factor in your life towards playing poker then cash games will be better for you due to the fact you aren’t having to expend large amounts of it on poker and sitting in tourneys.

Generally though with this it does depend on you as I say

Definitely is more of a personal preference.

I like to play a bit of a mixture of both really. Of course each brings it's own different strategy so it is worth while looking at how to effectively play each.

Cash games are too unpredictable. In a tourney the thinking is that everybody there has a long term stake and will play accordingly. SUre going all in can get you some chips but until the tourneys over they mean nothing. In a cash game its the opposite and therefore for me harder to read players. Im more suited to reading people who care and leveraging tourney situations vs differentiating a drunk random or rich lotto poker players hand at a $100 no limit table.

Cash games allow you to devote as much time to poker as you can. This is their main advantage for me.
I play both cash games and MTT tournaments. I prefer games for money on weekdays, when there is not so much free time, and I load MTT on weekends, when I am cheerful and full of energy in order to play a long session.

I think we can define cash games sessions better then we can play with more discipline,
I found cash games more dangrous and I lost all of my BR 2 or 3 times in cash games :D
tournaments are better for fun playing because you should spend so much more time for deep runs in tournaments,
The best thing about tournaments is you can grow your bankroll if you reach final 3rd,
I think best plan is a combination of both, you can count on profit of cash games more because of lower variance

I like tournaments where I have some kind of advantage other than the random ones from people at the table. For instance, freerolls or money added.

Its funny because in my short lived 13k hand history of playing poker, I just find I cannot get on with tournaments at all.

However I have only ever attempted free rolls...So perhaps that has something to do with it.

The style of play almost like people just pushing random buttons messing around...but at the same time in cash games these are the people we all look for and cash in from!

I find cash and tournaments almost feel like two totally different games.

It all depends on the time you have available to play, the cash game is ideal for those who do not have as much time available. Tournaments usually take more than 5 hours to define, it is good that you already have a game in which you make profits and that does not take away so much time
