Honestly, its legal because of sweepstakes law. I'm not saying I'm well-versed in this necessarily, but they have to have the "no entry" package bc its technically a sweepstakes, so you have to have a no purchase necessary option.

I think Global will be around forever until they die a natural death one day when federal OLP or enough states band together. At that point, who knows, they could buy a license if it is available to stay alive. If they thought they were doing anything illegal, they wouldn't be based in the US, I'll say that much.

All of that being said, of course any site going to be a risk imo. I just think of the online options available in states without regulated OLP, global probably the safest bet imo.

Well, you're the lawyer. It still sounds like a loophole they're exploiting but if it's unlikely to be closed they may well be the safest option. They are US based?

Yeah, I believe so. I'm pretty sure I remember them being from San Francisco area?

Its definitely a legal loophole for sure. That being said, the loophole could close or more likely, they just get pushed out of the market. I'd be interested to see their numbers in states like PA where Stars is around and obviously a bigger brand name.

So how is Stars in PA? Are the games against their entire network or just Star PA players?

Only PA player pool at this time. PA will have to come to an agreement with other states to have combined pools. None of the states allow players from outside their agreed upon pools. I think NJ & DE combined but don't quote me.

That's what I thought. I just can't imagine there being enough traffic to make the games that good.

Yeah, when I read up on Global, my 1st thought was "technically legal" for now.

There's high roller MTT's ($25,000 usd buyin) that were going off hourly (typically ~50 entrants, with 1st paying ~$400k). Apestyles 'had' quite a few cashes in them. Rake is 2% ($500).
I'd imagine they'd need to keep a fair bit of change on the site to be playing a bunch of those games. They must be feeling secure enough about it... or maybe just can't resist the games...
(just checked Apestyles tourney stats for GG network... avg. buyin $31.9k, (lol), 361 games played, roi+5%, profit $566k... he's on a downswing... he was up $3million 100games ago).
Some others up $3 & $4million in them. Read about one guy -$4mill :(

Site seems to be growing a bunch.

Even if they can directly show that the people depositing are only doing so because of the real money chips they get? Isn't this like the argument that you're not selling drugs you're just selling $200 pens and giving people who buy them some weed to go with it? I'm definitely not a lawyer but the point of sweepstakes is everyone can enter to win something of value. In this case everyone can enter to win something of no value, and the only way you win something of value is you pay for the thing with no value in order to be given something of value. At some point how is that any different from paying for the real money chips, thus them being a gambling site?

Also it's worth noting that paypal used to work directly with them and they terminated the relationship, presumably because paypal's lawyers thought it was likely global could be shut down and paypal could be fined for working with an illegal gambling site. Obviously companies can be overly conservative on these issues so maybe it's not likely to happen?

Whoa you sure we're talking about the same site? Global barely got sngs over $20 going regularly last time I checked.

Yeah it’s different then the pens because sweepstakes are federally carved out. Fed gov (apparently) thinks having sweepstakes are worth allowing situations like this.

I’m not up to date on it obviously but just from my preliminary research I did when I signed up.

As for starspa, it’s pretty soft so far. I’m only playing 100nl though, so real stakes could be way harder of course. Soft, at least for now

Hope you're right, and at the very least I'd hope they're not pulling an FTP so if they do get shut down we should still get our money back, although maybe 5 years later lol.

So WVH,

When does the baby stuff start getting easier? Did any of your sleep through the night? Mine is almost 5 months and he's still waking up every 1-2 hours during the night. He's a terrible sleeper lol

My kids were, and still are, great sleepers. They were both bottle fed babies (they tend to eat more at once) so they didn't need to wake up as often to eat. The sooner you can get the kid sleeping through the night and in their own room, the better your life will be.

I'm not sure it gets easier but it certainly gets more fun as when they're mobile and talking. Getting him out of diapers will also bring much happiness. Pro tip: Google 3-day potty training method. Worked for both my kids at just over 2 years old (28 and 26 months to be exact). I trained each over 3-day weekends. No diapers. No pull-ups. No struggle.

Awesome, I'll keep that in mind. Yeah, mine is bottle fed now too and hes a good eater but bro, he doesn't sleep!! He goes down at 7:00 and wakes up 10/12/2/5/630 every night. Wife and I are going crazy man. Think its been about 5 months of just no sleep. I guess it never gets "easier" but I have to believe it gets more manageable when you're able to get at least 4 hours of sleep a night regularly.

For sure. What's he doing when he wakes up? Just crying?

Yeah cry until he gets picked up. We’ve tried some sleep training but he keeps getting sick and breaking it. We are going to try again once he gets past current cold. It’s brutal right now though

Yeah, sleep training is harder on you than him. It's tough to let them cry. We had some issues getting my youngest to sleep soundly in his own room. There were a few brutal nights but it's worth it in the end. You'll get there. Don't get too discouraged. Every parent goes through it to some extent, even with good sleepers.

move to 'Babies are RIGGED for crying always at worst possible times thread'

Don't you notice that they'll sleep when you're feeling good but as soon as you're feeling shitty they're up crying constantly! ,,,,, a.k.a. 'Rigged'

Sounds about right. Put them to bed and enjoy a couple hours of quiet time and they're sure to wake up the instant you're ready to sleep. Parasites!

Sleep training started Wednesday night. Baby slept from 6-8:30, 9-3, bottle, and then like 3:30-6:30.

Then...he got sick and went to hospital again :(. He's okay but it threw him off his routine. He just can't kick this cold, its been tough on him.

Ended up restarting training over the weekend and he did really good. Schedule is:

Bedtime 6:30,
Brief wake up #1 8:30-9:30,
Back to sleep: 1:30-2:30
Nighttime bottle
Sleep 2:30-6:30

No user intervention required on any of those besides nighttime bottle. Last night I actually slept like 7+ hours and it was probably the most sleep I've gotten since he was born. Feel like a million bucks today

Glad he's feeling better. I saw the wife's post on Facebook. That RSV shit is no joke. Basically, get him better and then tell everyone they can see him again around Easter.

Glad you go some sleep. Sounds like he was bad enough sleeping before he got sick but when kids are sick NO ONE sleeps!

Threw 500 on global and playing some 50nl gonna try to never play a stake without 10+ buy-ins. Up like 100 but would be up way more if I remembered no one ever 3-barrel bluffs. I keep telling myself I have the top of my range and can't fold but they always have 2p+. Need to just start folding AQ on Qxxxx boards when they bet river. Games pretty soft but mainly because everyone is meh not that there are any real whales dumping money.
