it happens that some people associate with connectors, for example 67,89,34 and get in the set,and you rolled over pair , and you don't know what your in for a raise to 3bb with AQ opponent could get into a set when the cards 4 4 Q

Trust me, I've seen more than my share of those hands. However, to raise with 2-3 S is a kind of semi bluff, but to call a 3-bet??

Don't mean to hijack your thread but had to show this and wanted to try out the hand converter you mentioned.

You build up a loose image for an hour or so for this to happen. I have over 1k hands with villain who is 15/11/3. Seemed like a decent reg, having second thoughts now. Might start folding Jacks pre.

pokerstars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (6 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from http://flopturnriver.com/

Hero (BB) ($10)
UTG ($10)
MP ($10.15)
CO ($51.33)
Button ($10.15)
SB ($10)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J

3 folds, Button raises to $0.30, SB raises to $0.90, Hero calls $0.80, 1 fold

Flop: ($2.10) J

SB checks, Hero bets $1.20, SB raises to $4.30, Hero raises to $9.10 (All-In), SB calls $4.80 (All-In)

Turn: ($20.30) 8
diamond.gif

River: ($20.30) Q

(three of a kind, Queens).
Hero had J

I run too bad to play loose. How he is paying me off with Queens pre in the first place. Such a joke sometimes.

In this position, K-7 isn't necessarily a bad hand, it's just the way that the hand played out that pissed me off:

Well Duggs, I do my best to play it like it means something, call it practice with maybe a little something at the end. Not everyone does, not everyone should I guess, but that's just me.

I wasn't in this hand, but this is a prime example of a sick call that works out.

Really, who would play this?

My point is pre, he was what........................ 4:1 behind? Against random hands he's going to be 3:2 behind at best?

Yes, on the Turn and River he has 9 outs, but it's silly it even gets this far. Agreed?

not folding flop if i get there, but pre isn't that bad, like its far from good but you are blowing it way out of proportion.

Well , seeing as both have fairly reggy stats. We cannot be too sure how they are leveling on each other. I mean, isnt entirely possible for the JJ guy to be a chronic double-barreller and he figured his 6 is good for a call on the turn with a 9 outers as backup?

I learned to not be too judgmental of seemingly fishy plays, especially if it was between two reggy players. It's usually not a luckboxing contest. They are likely levelling each other, although whether they are doing it right is another question. So don't go crazy and immediately label the 56s guy as a calling station just based on this hand and go shoving TPWK down his throat the first chance you get.

EDIT: 56s not 56o, sorry

Probably so, and maybe I have a serious misunderstanding of playable hands. Looking at his stats and the range exercise you had me do yesterday, I would NEVER put him on small SCs

Apparently neither did Mr. JJ. See that'w why we do play the suited connectors occasionally. They are very hard to put on as they make up like what? playable suited connectors from 56s to JTs only account for like 1.8% of all poker hands.

Also, those two up there are about 120bb deep. The preflop play is definitely acceptable, unless there's a 3bet monkey after CO

Should I also mention he has position?

Yes, I play them occasionally too, but not for 3 bbs for small one against potentially 1 player.

Yes, he does have position, but he didn't know that when he called pre, did he?

Here's one that makes me go "Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm".

I can understand his 3-bet ............... maybe, but after that I have no idea what was going through his head.

I put him on Qs + or maybe AK. I did not believe he had anything to match the flop.

Thoughts?

That was my thought post-flop, sorry Duggs, didn't make myself clear. No reason to put him on only those limited hands with his stats pre.
