Never really got into trading, let alone day trading, but it is interesting to me that the actively managed funds and actively traded portfolios, on average, can't beat a simple indexed mutual fund.

If you believe in markets, everything is always essentially priced at the correct value, so trading is always a losing bet.

The only way to beat the market is to use information that the market does not have. But if you use inside information on a company, that's illegal, and if the information you use is actually public, then professional traders working for large banks will have mined that information before you and moved the price to its new correct value before you even get a chance to act.

When it comes to actively managed funds, well, if there is any extra profit to be made, it goes into the hands of the fund managers, not into the hands of the investors.

Yeah, this is what I'm thinking, too.

I read Warren Buffet's bio "Snowball" (hell of a good book) and he advised that the average investor should use the indexed mutual fund and they would be money ahead. For every outlier like Buffet that can show great returns there are thousands who have lost their shirts.

I'm not against trying day trading but I would only do it with money that I was completely willing to lose with no qualms.

Running pretty bad the past 10k hands this month, only 18 tabling for another 130 fpps (so I have 1500 for the stars party!!) and then I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

The answer is clearly less tables > more hands per month, specially as I'm STILL at the micros, I get bored playing like <12 tables of FR.

Might just take a break from poker for a while, I wish I could get like glamoured (true blood reference lol) and start poker over again, feel like I have so many bad habits that are now ingrained in me, and I've played loads of tables so much that less tables bores me and I get distracted v.easily, I also play a much wider FR range playing less tables and probs spew more too.

I dont really work on my game much either tbh, I just play pretty much as I dont have a hell of a lot of time really.

Ugh, **** knows, sorry for the rant.

Might just try and tile like 6-8 tables of FR and see how I do, try and just watch every hand and make loads of notes/observations to make sure I dont get distracted. The games are getting harder and I cant just sit here and grind out volume whilst not improving and moving up, I either drop tables and learn not to get bored/distracted or drop poker
