Ways to improve online game.

Hi guys,

I feel like I have hit a wall and can't seem to get by the bubble anymore in online tournaments?

Can anyone suggest ways to improve my online game or better ways to 'read' online players?

Is this possible?

To improve your game in general, you must be familiar with poker theory. There are dozens of books on this topic, just google it. But the thing is - it's all math behind those cards. So... There must be a game theory also, and, yes, there is!

Thank you for your reply, will get some books and bolster my maths skills. I feel I am relatively good at maths so maybe touch ups on this will help.

I would suggest many hours of studying push fold charts in comparison to chip stack. That should get you over the hump in bubble play. Good luck at the tables.

To improve the game we need to clearly understand the cause of your failures? This dispersion or your bad game? Since you often crashes bp bubble may I suggest that you are too tight in the vicinity of the prize area! So either you're not familiar with the push or fold too pressured money for you! If you know very well shove fold then try to play lower limits! Good luck!

There are periods that nothing seems to work out. I would say: keep playing, gain experience, but most importantly think of how you got eliminated in tournaments. Were you unlucky? Could you have been more aggressive or more passive? Was it really needed to all in?

I recommend you use a software to review your biggest losses in detail. Sometimes you discover very valuable things statistically, such as the positions you play best and which ones you don't, and the pairs of cards that bring you greater headaches. Only by analyzing your game in depth will you overcome the most important mistakes

Ways to improve online game.

Study day to day, Upswing poker lab has free articles you can read. Keep playing and keep in mind that good players play aggressive in bubble to increase the stack moving to the money because the big prize is in the final table. So keep a tough mind, keep grinding and keep playing. You will loose most of the time playing tournaments, but you will be profitable finishing deep in tournaments.

To 'read' the players, pay close attention to the bets. If you have chipleader bets high, if you have short bets with pair in hand. (JJ or better.) This helps me a lot!

It can certainly be tricky when the tournament chips are drying up on your side of the shore and need double up hands in order to stay alive. You should try and not find yourself in this position to the bet of your ability before hand by "taking everything, giving nothing" - in chips before getting down to the wire and the money but when you do, try and pick your spots appropriately and put people in awkward positions for them to call.

Some time ago I read an article that was based on this type of situation, the most advisable thing was to stop playing during a considerable period of time to be able to enter fresh. Otherwise, you will continue to lose because by wanting so much just to win, you will make bad decisions during the games and that will inevitably lead you to lose again.

Best way to improve your game is patience. Play your game and don't get involved in all the craziness of crazy play. Always forget your last hand, it is over. Don't worry about things like average chip stacks, might even be better not to have the lobby screen open, just play your table. Let the play come to you. There is a time to be aggressive, and when you have the chip stack and are seated with the right players you will know it. But the number 1 thing like mentioned at first, is Patience! There are a lot of good threads here on CC, take the time to read them. You will learn tons on here! Good luck to you.
