As already said in this thread you want to play it agressively, i wouldnt suggest just throwing it away unless there are a few people in the pot and you know it will turn into a multiway pot, your AK is only strong in HU play, as the more ppl in the pot the more likely they will hit something stronger.
So we raise, depending on where on the table you are depends on the raise size, 2 ways to see it is......
1... Early, keep pot small, so that you can get away cheaply if you miss the flop (only ever suggested to players that are afraid to play strong hands oop)
2... EP you raise larger then you would from late position to minimize the chance of a multiway pot... (downside is, if you raise bigger your cbet is larger and by the time you get to the turn you could be in trouble)
I would always strongly recommend 2 over 1, because as said theres nothing worse then playing AK oop, other then playing AK oop in a multiway situation,
if played correctly you should be HU, and if they have a middle pair then so be it, decide whether you think you can get your opponent away from his hand dependant on who he is and if he is passive.
One final note is if you are 15bb or less, no matter what position you are in, just get it in regardless of how close to the money you are....
you may be against 88 and lose, but its like a coin toss, and you need to make chips, if you start folding AK based on how close to the money you are, then your throwing away value of getting back in to the tournament
