I've just read chapter about THE PROCESS MODEL in Jared Tendler's MENTAL GAME OF POKER.

First point in this model is preparation / warm-up for the game.
I was not giving a single thought about warm-up till this day, I just choose a tourney and play.

Do any of you do warm-up for the game ?
How ?

I had not heard about that concept either. Maybe read it later. What if I try is to be well rested, with enough hours of sleep before facing a session or a tournament. In summary, being in optimal physical condition without mental or physical fatigue is a good way to predispose for good your game. It is not always possible, but at least it is what I try. It is the only form of 'warming' that I see now. I do not know if the chapter you've read has anything to do with this

In simple terms Jarred says this:
In any sport e.g. football, golf, ... players had to prepare for game. They do warm-up exercises, formulate strategy and prepare themselves to play the best possible level.
Poker is a sport game so you should prepare before game too.

I do a warm-up, only when there is a break every hour. Very relax. Simple workout

I think this should be a moral preparation for the poker game, something like setting up a game, like "fight with the shadow" before the tournament.

I pour the tea, take the cigarettes, so as not to be distracted from the game, I turn on the music and start playing the game.

There are many ways to prepare before you start playing poker ... each one must choose the form that best suits him .... in my case I start by selecting the tournament I want to play .. I prepare a coffee and I condition the game site. .. the key is to feel as comfortable as possible ...!

Usually, I just need to prepare for hours of play. Then play as planned.

I think it is important to know your chi for the day. Not everyday is a winner. The art of keeping ones chair and position is key. Play a tester game or two. See if your drawing cards. I use to use solitaire before the internet. If I won three games out of ten..I AM HOT!

If I'm going to play a long tournament, first I tight eat, then put together something to drink, additionally include a video not to miss. May before the tournament play cash or heads up.

Many of the replies above concern physical matters, I think definitely Tendler is referring to mental/emotional issues. Be very careful in the opening few hands especially not to do anything rash, unless of course you have a monster!!! I find it takes me a few minutes to settle into the right frame of mind

I'm interested in how you imagine a warm-up. Maybe before a big tournament play on a small or on a cache play a little? I think it's enough to be in a good mood, not tired and sane.Depending on the complexity of the tournament and its significance, there are changes in strategy. If you know the opponent there is an opportunity to think through the game plan.

It seems to me that the essence of warm-ups is the brainwashing)) So take a break away from work, family problems, other thoughts and concentrate on poker, send your brain work in the right direction, and everything will be fine.
