Because you don't have any pressure on you and more than that you didn't paid a dime to play :)

Players Beware

I really don't know why, but I have more success in freeroll.
I had won the last CC freeroll on BCP....

When I use my winning to register to a tournament with buy-inn ;

I win nothing, nothing, nothing, or I win the minimum price...

Another time, I had won another freeroll.
We were 1583, I won $5.43 after 6 hour...

When I talk of this with some member here, all of you say that freeroll is more harder to cash in it...

You should stick with freerolls and NEVER deposit on any online poker sites, go to a casino for real money. I have played a lot of online poker since 2004 and I recently had a buddy show me how players cheat, know the cards not only hole cards but the cards coming on the flop, turn and river.Yes its totally done by ALOT of cheaters in the online poker world and when he showed me it disgusted me frankly,my gut sunk and i was like no F'n wonder...I would never do it myself and i will never snitch him out but i always knew there was something weird going on so that being said you have been warned.PS The sites that most of these cheating azzholes are at is any of the WPN sites,he said they are all over it,pokerstars, ignition, bodog these are the worst because these sites turn their backs on it but they on every site you can think of that are real money sites. Good Luck you blood sucking idiots.:thefinger:nurse::evil: Im sure now every rep and cheater that sees this will defend the sites and make a long post on how everything works and we are all just dumb. good riddance online poker.

Sometimes i have that aswell i do better in freeroll
than a tournament i always wanna win but i think in freerolls people are a little weaker than in buy-in tournaments there for you might get a higher win in freerolls than you do in buy-in tournaments

Or maybe your style changes a bit in freerolls than in buy-in tournaments....

I think it's just that the freeroll field is weaker than in your daily buy-in games and thats why you always do well in freerolls most of the time

I think players in general, myself included, tend to do better in freerolls because of the lower pressure intimidation factor. With freerolls you don't have any 'skin' in the game so you usually play a little less tight and would probably take more risks than you would if you had your stake in the game, sometimes these risks pay off, the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward.

Many times playing with money implies a little more pressure for us as players, because we are investing money, because we want to improve and win a good prize, different from freerolls, many do not try to play well in them, they play more freely since they only invest time of game, and of course I do not speak of the CC freerolls because honestly there are very good players here and there is always a lot of game level, it is not like any other freerroll

You probably do better bc you play more fearless... when you're buying in, you play more cautiously. .i guess..lol

Here is a more cynical view, because I'm the Bitter Man of Experience.

Poker websites are designed to make money, not provide a place to play poker. The poker platform is just a mechanism to separate you from your money.

Free rolls are designed to attract new players to the game, not to provide a fun way to get started in poker.

Free roll algorithms are designed to create the perception that a player is better than they are, so they are tempted to deposit more money on the site after they "win" a free roll. Hence all the soft play and incredible beats in free rolls.

Poker sites don't want their customers to be free-roll players, they want them to deposit. The longer the player is playing a free roll, the less money the poker site makes off them.

They also use the information from free rolls to create a profile of your poker addiction, and sell the info to.....whomever.

This is the first post I’ve seen in this thread that makes me think anyone has actually played cards online

The free rolls are designed to get players to play. That leads to players making depos

Lots of players here with lots of theories about why they’re good/why they aren’t at poker. Free rolls have very little to do with talent or ability. More about avoiding land mines.

The CC rolls are no different. The fact that they have 100 entries vs (example) bankroll mob rolls have 1100 plus entires doesn’t make CC rolls “better” or “easier”. I’ve seen loads of all in donkey shoves and calls in the CC rolls.

Cheers. See you at the tables, whatever stakes you select

I play freerolles too. The best are qualifiers. When I am in a the big tournament final, I never cash it. Maybe to much stress?

I've seen stressless play in both freerolls and buy-in tournaments. I do feel like most try and play more conservatively in money ones, which affects what hands they will enter or call a raise with. I have seen people play buy-in tourneys like freerolls and do OK. I found myself trying to get past the bubble and that worked, except it would leave me with a small stack compared to others. After reading the story about players cashing the most being losing players here on CC. I changed my play that day and still cash as often but can go deeper with a better stack past the bubble.

Freerolls are useful, but playing them is pretty hard. Too many players. And many play too recklessly, because it is free. It really hinders. But some experience can be learned.

I think the same

Freeroll is a great way to start your bankroll. But the next step is enter in cash buy in. When There are money on the table, the levels of the opponets is way better. respect then is a lesson of the greatest player has the learn. So my tip is to play only one table on real cash tourney.

You have to play a lot of other tournaments in order to compare both of them.

I am Average

When I play in freerolls, I seem to do okay and feel like I am getting better with time. When I play the cash ring games I lose everything I made in freerolls to the ring games, they just have much stronger hands in the ring games.
I really don't know why, but I have more success in freeroll.

Freeroll we have no pressure because we are playing without cost so play a more looser beautiful game and sometimes the level technician also in the early days is not as good allowing us to make a nice stack of chips on the day that the inspiration and luck is prone

Still I love playing freerolls and respect for all styles of games

Hi There
Thats something happening to a lot of people me included
The one point to figure out is that in freerolls there are much more beginers that in a paid
tournament. Therefore if you are a medium player you will win against these others who
go allin with crazy cards like 56 78 39 etc

its because people care alot less about freerolls than a buy in so they will be more loose to call.

I think, the answer lies in the word "free". Playing freeroll means no burden on your mind and it can produce best results.
In buy-ins there is a pressure on your mind and it can't function with full capacity. A rush of thoughts hinders the ability of the mind. You might be thinking, how many chips i am left with? can i make to the final table? how much more time i have to play? Playing even with AK, you might be thinking, Would i be able to connect with flop? and so on.
If you want to be successful in any tournament then you need to keep your mind fresh. And i think that is the most difficult job to do (an average mind deals with 70,000 thoughts daily).

You are Good

Sounds like you have a great freeroll strategy that works for you and makes you successful at them.

You take that same thing into the buy in tournaments and the player play a bit different there.

I do almost the same thing, except I get deep to where there are less than 20 and get bumped out everuytime.

Players in the freerolls are not very good. You should be beating them at a much higher rate (in the longrun) than you will be vs. better players in buyin tourneys.

You don't have anywhere close to enough posts to even play in one of the games that most here would be referring to. So how could you have 'seen loads ' in the CC rolls?

Freerolls have less pressure. The average freeroll has many new players where as buy in tournaments have more experienced players. Forum freerolls are inbetween the 2. The CC freerolls have a few inexperienced players like me and a couple Pro's. Then many experienced players that play the CC games everyday for the large payouts compared to big field tournaments, and for some most importantly the comradery. When a CC tourney starts you will see several "Hi all good luck" type comments in the chatbox. Occasionally a short conversation between players using real names not the nicknames. As players get knocked out others comment "gg" or some other friendly comment. This makes for an enviroment for the less experienced to relax and enjoy the play and learn from the experience. So if youre not doing so good in cash games or buy in tourneys yet, sit in on as many CC games as you can to build your bankroll and gain experience and get more relaxed in regular tournament play. They are great friendly games with payouts bigger than the big field freerolls, and you have experienced players to watch and go up against. Advantages for all involved.
