Real poker in a casino is definitely the best way to go. The stakes are good, the action is right in front of you, there are no disconnection issues, and nothing beats feeling the chips riffle through your fingers.
Problem with real poker is the amount of money required to play on a regular basis. For example, my local casino spreads only 5-10 Limit, 10-20 Limit, and 10-20 Omaha. They have just started spreading 1-2 NL finally, but before that the game didn't appeal to me. Their tournaments are far superior - my fav is a $50+$10 turbo that has a cap of 40 players at one time and late registration goes one hour.
Home games are next but I find these the most difficult as they require an immense amount of planning and coordination, and, tend to be for stakes that aren't going to break your bankroll. Definitely a good night of fun.
Online is where I practice my game. The stakes are hard to get excited about if you played at the casino last, but any time I want to play I can.
