I started playing 10 cent and 25 cent buyins when I reached 20bucks accumulated from freerolls. I continued to play freerolls for the entire year. By the end of my first year in poker I had earned just over 300 bucks, exclusively on ACR.
I played other sites as well - but these earnings were all on ACR.

Play both and find out if you are ready to play poker for real money for real buy-in. In freerolls, there is a one major disadvantage - higher variance. Naturally, there is high variance in low buy-in MTTs too, but when you compare it with freerolls, freerolls are insane regarding variance. I would keep playing both (you can use freerolls as a training session, at least).

If you want to take part in multi-table tournaments you should always think about the right bankroll management in order to never go broke. Experience has shown that 100 buy-ins best suit your interests in high odds and low risk of loss. Don't play tournaments for which you don't have 100 buy-ins. In other words: IMPORTANT Never invest more than 1% of your bankroll in a tournament. Applied to poker tournaments, variance means that things don't always work out fairly. You are going to tournaments play in which you have a run. The cards come for you as if they were painted and the chips yours Opponents move in your direction almost by themselves if you bet accordingly. On the other hand, there will of course be tournaments where everything goes wrong. But whether it’s good or is going badly (or mediocre), you never know beforehand. The cards come randomly. Lots Players make the following mistake: They are emotionally too concerned with whether they are are now on the good or bad side of the variance. However, if you want to succeed in poker tournaments, it is very important that you consider this variance as a accept part of the game and learn to use it. Regardless of whether it is in yours tournament went well or badly so far, you should always focus on the next hand to make the best possible decision.

Since I put deposit limits on my accounts I run out of money pretty quickly and all I can play is freerolls.

I think you still need to change the game types periodically. One type of poker can be boring. But, of course, change the games to those in which you confidently know the rules and nuances.

The suggestion is that you continue with this pace and increase your bankroll further. Then join a $ 10.00 tournament. With that you will not need to spend your initial money and will still be competing for good prizes.

If you play two casino games on Thursdays you will be able to play another freeroll and bring up your VIP status. Be careful of the amount of your bet be sure to bring the wager down to the minimum it starts at maximum. You could lose all your bankroll in one shot.

I find the 888 freerolls are super turbo for the most part and are more luck based. You could try playing some micro STT first with regular speeds and see how that goes. Best of luck.

personally I would wait a little while and then play some cheap SnGs.
bankroll management will be the key to not depositing again :)
best of luck whatever you decide :)

The above is good advice, if you don't want to risk your original deposit then return to free rolls if your bankroll drops back near the $10 level. This will allow you to demonstrate that you are capable of practicing good brm & if in fact you are willing to continue playing free rolls you really aren't risking that much. Playing in games where you actually are putting your own money at risk is always preferable to free rolls as long as you are playing with money you can afford to lose.
As Jay stated above, good luck & enjoy.

playing a weekend tournament, trying to get a ticket through a satellite should generate the same proportion as playing a freeroll

I think you should continue in freerolls, I feel that as you say you lack the confidence to advance in bigger or different kind of tournaments, and if you feel that way, it is probably because you are correct. Let me tell you that only you will know when you are ready to face different tournaments, you also have to know well that it is not only about being prepared, because even if you are, luck plays a fundamental role in the game, it is useless being prepared if you are not lucky in the game, so from time to time, dare to play a different tournament than freerolls, they say that you always have to think about winning and maybe that will help you. Regards.

I believe that the only way to get better is to play more competitive games and tournaments. Like any other sport, if you stay where you are your skill level won't improve, you have to play better opponents in order to get better and freerolls are like riding a bicycle with training wheels.

with your $ 17 bankroll, don't even think about playing MTT.Your bankroll must be at least 100 bains of the tournament you are going to play. This is a mathematical calculation to avoid losing your funds.

My story, after so many years playing constantly I had to take a few years off.
On 888 I’ve gone from 0-100$ 3 times in the last 4-5 months.
My advise (which I’m not using)
Is proper bankroll management!
They do have decent .10, and .50 games, I wouldn’t advise spending more than $1 on a game, I wouldn’t be at $7 again if I had not played above bankroll.
9 man SnGs are a great way to build $ too
Good luck

Freerolls

Freerolls are for good practice and there are to many fish that take chances for you too have any chance at winning. Slow play is good but it is rare that you have a shot at winning any large pots. Good luck in your future with freerolls just take it slow and easy. Capo1014
