You need to be very aggressive, as this is a shorthanded game + you're almost having a short stack. Play a lot of hands in position, shove quite often with hands that are good for it when getting an even lower stack. That's basically it.
But who am I to give advice anyway. I'm not that good at this kind of game either.

Bassically its not poker
I wouldn't state it that strong, as there are some people who are successful in the long run at playing them. There is more luck involved of course (20 hands cardsdead and you're out), but saying it's not poker; is a bit unfair I think.

I agree - it IS poker, just a very specialized flavor. Tight/Aggressive is usually the best strategy. Aggressive means that when you've got the goods, you're going to be shoving or calling a shove. You don't have to, nor should you play stupid (loose) aggressive (although lots do). It seems that about 50% of the time the first hand gets shoved, often with garbage.

The real money is in the roulette style way that the prize pool gets chosen at the beginning - some of them can be really, really big!

I think this is where I'm leaking (didn't mean to sound this wrong :p ). Playing too much hands. Will try to play a bit tighter next time and see how that works out.

treat it basically like a HU SNG. Tight is not really that valid in most cases... but it depends on the general population tendancies at your buyin level as you rarely have early reads on opponants. if you play too tight, you will almost always end up as a 2 : 1 chip disadvantage going into the HU match, which means you will lose more than you will win.

You have to make very quick assumptions about players.

You should play the 2x buyins differantly to the 6x+ buyins, favouring making the 2x buyin games go as fast as possible so you get a chance to play in more higher multiplyer games where you can actually profit.

seems that somebody there don t like spin&go's cause it's not poker. that not true. It depends very much on the spinner if it is like X6 people are gonna play tighter, it is like a head up match, only in a three-way :D:D

I have a love/hate relationship with these and am oddly addicted to it.

Yes, you need to be aggressive but I can't tell you the # of times I've been outdrawn. It's a fun alternative and I look at it like practicing for HU action at the end of a MTT. But, I wouldn't try to build a bankroll on it. No, sir.

You need to play lag instead of tag as the game is very quick and a lot of luck is involved.

I consider luck one element of poker, in a small %. In this kind of game, luck has a bigger part than in other kind of games.

Its a very short game so you got to be sharp, and play any reasonable hand.

Of course a little touch from lady luck would be nice.

Even some people say that Luck doesn't count on poker, I think it helps a lot to win. And in this kind of hyper and fast tournaments it's really necessary, unless you are playing against dumb fishes. Well this is a kind of luck too...

Make notes on player you encounter in spin +go.
A lot of players go all-in on the first hand - You need notes on these players so that you do not have to fold after calling/raising pre-flop.

Or he is just good at it. It might be not your kind of game (and not mine either for that matter), but I do believe some people might excel at it.

Spin and goes can be a very good way to make one dollar in for example 4/6 in one spin. You just need to remember that the odds that this happens is 10%, and after that you still need to win the game. That makes the odds that you will win 1/3. That gives you a 3.33 % to win more then the total buyins in one spin and go. I can tell you that the odds in roulettte on one number are around 2.7% and then you will make 36 times the buyin.

For most of us are the spin and goes not good for your bankroll. It is kind of the same as a lottery. You are playing them because you want to hit that jackpot, but you have more chance to win money if you don't play them at all. But if it turns out you would have won the sadness is to big to imagine.

If you have a lot of fun in playing those games, just play them for fun.

You're assuming here that all people have the same skill level and that winning one is just a lottery. This is simply not true, as some people have become specialist at this type of games. They would have a chance closer to the 10% to win instead of 3.33%. Poker is not just pure luck and nothing else, and spin and go is just a specific type of poker.

or he's played like 10 games... lol. No one can sustain a 70% win ratio in these things, it's basically impossible.

To be considered doing really well in these games something around 38-40% Win % would be considered crushing it over the long term.

That 33.3% number is a little flawed because of the skill element and the rake. It's also flawed because the payout amounts vary. so you don't really win 1/3 of the time, if you do you are losing money playing these. You need to be at least 36% win % to be breaking even, this number of course varies with the lower rake in the higher games, and the $5 massive jackpot games that used to run, which lower the amount of 4x and 6x + games to pay for the bigger jackpot. The games would be impossible to beat if they only ran the 2x multiplyers, it simply doesnt pay out enough and no one has that much of a skill edge to make any real profit in the 2x games. But the amount of 4x 6x etc makes up for it. So realistically you will want to have a better win % in the higher multiplyers and accept a lower one for the 2x games. Basically the idea is you want the 2x games over as fast as possible so you can load another game with a chance at a higher multiplyer, conversely you want to really avoid big all in pots in the higher multiplyer games, putting more focus on them so you can have as many wins as possible in those games.
