Harrington says 5 M (so when your stack is five times the blinds plus antes). This seems to me as too high in most online poker tournaments. I would guess I have 5 M or less for at least 50 percent of the time in online tourneys. I think 3 M makes more sense.

Do you have any opinions on this situation?

With less than 10 BB, surely it is a push in case you want to participate in the hand. Already with more than 10 BB, you have space and time to be able to work your game without major problems.

m-factor of 5 or less in later stages of mtt your almost in shove fold mode-later stages when the blinds and antes alone are crushing your stack-options at this point are few,any two painted cards or ace anything is a push at least for me

Anything under 10 BB is All in or Fold. No space to do much. :deal:

With less than 10 BB u should to shove or fold, but expect a hand that can fight , a decent hand, like any pair, suited connectors, broadways, and if u can, play it against a player with short stack.

My opinion on the shove or fold is you gotta shove when your less than 10bb and the reason for that is because you don't want too many players to call your all-in bet.

Shove only on hands that are premium to good hands.

I recently got drained down in a long freeroll. Ended up getting 2 down to big blind and shoving with king-ten off. Should I have shoved sooner with something a little worse?

all ways better to shove with an Ace

with the chips that u have i can tell your a tight player nothing wrong with that just means you are going to have to pick a hand a shove. once u win that hand it should be easier to play after that.

Usually at these blinds you would have close to 400 total in antes as well , so your real M is only around 3 .

An M of 5 gives you a stack of < 10 BBs. With antes, you only have enough for 5 rotations at 9 seat table. That's only 45 hands. Less if blinds and antes increase.

Something is terribly wrong if you have < 10 BBs 50% of the time you play MTTs. You might be playing a little too tight.

This is definitely the right number, with a stack of 5M you only have two options for continuing the events if you want to be competitive with your opponents in the future.

I'm usually in all-in or fold mode when I've got less than 10 BBs left. It's the only way to get decent fold equity. If you bet anything less you're probably going to have to put the rest in on the flop anyways.

There are times where its probably more optimal to min raise fold with 10bbs(villan dependent) and times when limp stabbing will be the optimal move.

I used to wait too long.
If you have less than 10BB you have to shove, I learnt that the hard way.

5BB shove, if more it depends on the tournament stage. At the final table I often shove with 20BB. Everyone play super tight and usually nobody risks to check.
