Freerolls

All you really want to do is play your game, don't do anything different when playing with rec players or new players to poker.. make a note they are new or rec and just be aware is all. I won the cards chat tournament couple weeks ago. If I can do it, anyone can do it. Jones278

I think that if it can happen, I think that everything is that you do not get used to playing like this, when you play your other players prepare to apply your knowledge and not apply the type of game freeroll

Freeroll with lagre entries can be of no help, Now you take the CC freerolls, the fields are much smaller but very much hitting first place is a harder task, Yes we do protect our stacks here but only because we have notes and have played against eachother many times. Like they say Hud Stats dont mean much if you dont have 1k hands of someone, applies here just playing the members

I've recently been playing more poker online and usually like to get back in to the swing of things by playing a couple of freerolls. Lately I've been feeling like the play is so wild and random that the variance from bad players making horrible plays just makes it feel like adjusting to such "wild-style play" will over all hurt my game once I get back into playing micro and mid stakes tourneys. Am I right or just over analyzing??..

So, freerolls are a great way to get back into playing.

But, yes I find myself over-calling on some streets in more expensive tournaments - and of course I am wrong.

I agree with another poster that CC freerolls are a different animal because the field is so much narrower, the field is so much more skilled than other freerolls (and this is a good thing to sharpen your play....have to play against better players to become better), the field is mostly active (not asleep), and the CC freeroll plays more like a "normal" tournament.

Good luck !

Freerolls definitely have some gamble to them in the beginning but I find a lot of the same in low stake MTTs with rebuys so it is actually good practice for those.

Yes, I believe playing too many free rolls can have a bad effect on your game. Free rolls are basically a small step up from play money. Go to a casino and play a tournament with a $100+ buy-in. You will see a world of difference in the play. With decent money invested, players actually fear losing a hand. C-bets and bluffs have a much better chance of succeeding. Multi-way pots are pretty rare and many hands don't even get to the flop. There are still loose players, but I rarely see maniacs playing. THAT is real poker. I haven't played micro stakes, but I hear it's similar to free rolls. I'll pass on those and stick with the higher buy-ins where the play isn't as crazy.

Too many freerolls can really mess with your faith in the world lol
That's all I've really been playing for awhile now, and some days the miracle outs people hit every time you play a hand can be enough to pack it in for good.
If you can dodge the onslaught of donkbullets for awhile, the play does tend to get back to normal. Normal for online play, anyway :D
Good luck! Don't let 'em make ya crazy hehehe

The freerolls are definitely wild and crazy sometimes or most of the time. But dont doubt that they are a learning experience and still a chance to improve your game for free!!

Hello.
I think freerolls are a great way to increase my bankroll and gain experience. I do not care how my opponents play. The main thing for me is how I play. I consider it a priority to make the right decisions.

i think you are totally right!!!! i've notice that freeroll only gets real once it gets close to final table. before that people will go all in just because they are in the money and have nothing to loose. so i agree with, play freeroll for fun and not to practice, because freeroll players are just nuts

Look at freerolls as practice.

You can pull moves off in a practice that you might not try in a real game.

Those moves in practice won’t hurt you. In a game, wrong moves equal chip losses.

Practice wisely. Don’t think you’re a game superstar because you the GOAT in practice.

As long as you know the difference and can change your style the crazy play in freerolls is easy to adapt to.

If payers go all-in more often PF you can lower your own all-in range and often still be ahead.

In a more expansive tournament I don't like to go all-in with AK early then stacks are deep (especially not call an all-in). But in most freerolls and against most players I happily call with AK.

Same thing post flop. You are normally not ahead if there is betting on three streets with an over pair or tptk but in freerolls you are so often ahead what it can right to stack off even. This is heads-up play. Multiway top pair or over pair is most likely behind and should be mucked on the river after serious aggression.

The only way freerolls hurt you is if you think players play the same when you play a 20 dollar buy-in or more.

I find any freeroll as a luck vs skill game and normally luck holds out.

I play freerolls and enjoy the crazy game of opponents and I do not need to follow the bankroll. Financial freedom !:star:

Hi!
Why change the style of play? I guess you can get tired of that. It's a shame of course will lose a strong hand to bad cards, but at least You will not pay your money for it. For freerolls You pay for your time. Nevertheless , it is a good experience for me.

freeroll

think freeroll is just like cash games - most take much longer and you will not get as far in many but costless except your time. i would say you still learn to categorize players and etc. and if you get close to the final table in any big freeroll you still learn about playing end game you can use later offcourse adjusted for playing styles.

also it is surprisingly easy to get itm in - build bankroll for entry fee for 1 or 2 dollar tournamemts or 5 and getting itm in those you can get into bigger tournaments at zero cost

but ok thats just my view since i like playing tournaments for free - and i dont do it for a living :)

You are not playing 1.1 same as 11 either... So you just need to be aware of buyin and field strength and play acordingly

I noticed in freerolls more wild plays too that will not be seen too often in mid stakes. As long as you know to adjust your game instead of learning bad habits, it should be fine...
