Do you play cash games to "win" your MTT buy-ins?

I used to do this all the time, and it might be a good thing for others. I start looking for one or two MTTs I would like to play later in the day. So I always start out playing cash first, and sometimes I make myself win the MTT buyin or not play them. I don't do it all the time, but when I do, it makes me play tighter and better. GL you all

I sometimes view this or make this a "goal" for my day of playing. Also depends on how much time I expect to play on if I want to vary cash vs. MTT for my targets. Sometimes I do what you do and play cash first and try to make let's say $1.65 or more to be able to play a $1.50 + $0.15 tournament for "free". Sometimes it's the other way around where I lose a $1.65 tournament and my goal in cash for rest of day is to make that much at least to balance it out.

Cash games and tournaments are very different formats, and in my opinion its best to not mix them up. You dont need to commit for life, but moving back and forth between them constantly will not give the best results.

That can't happen to me. :) I don’t like it, it’s boring for me either, I can’t play monotonously the same way in the long run. I play sit&go and tournament satellites if I don’t want to pay the buy in.

Many players play mainly one of the other, cash or tournaments and don't mix the two but it sounds like an interesting way to branch out and expand your play. Also gives incentive to become more well rounded.

Thinking similarly, mostly play tourneys, if i go to play CG the target is always the rake bonuses, and try to play only PLO CG, meantime in mtts, 99% i play holdem, so it is more or less separated.

Yes, that's how I play ))
I only play pokerstars, and I only play Omaha hi / lo.
The fact is that the tournaments I need are held in the morning and in the afternoon, and in the evening I play cash.
That's how it happened by itself that in the evening I play cash to take back the tournament buy-ins.

Thanks for the replies you all. I always read them all. Yesterday, I played cash for about 2 hours, which was from 12pm until 2pm, and at that time I had won my MTTs buyins. As for me, I like to mix it up. I will actually play cash at one site and an MTT on another at the same time side by side. For me, it makes it more interesting. Anyway, GL to you all if you play today

I try to seperate both games and bankrolls. Gains (or losses) from cashgames are for my "cash-bankroll",
Buyins for MTT's, I try to get from freerolls and winnings go into my "tourney-bankroll"
At the moment this works well, but in the beginning my "cash-bankroll" was a few times busted.

Thanks for the replies. Yesterday, I did win my buyin for a MTT I wanted to play at Bovada. I started playing cash at noon, and the MTT started at 1pm. So in one hour I had won $5.50. However, I didn't get ITM. Oh well. At SB, I lost my cash table buyin, so I did not play any MTTs there. Besides, SB don't have many MTTs. GL to you all

It happens. And when I understand that the cache is not mine, I return to MTT.
