This thread is a cluster ****.

The truth of it is, if you are there for a one time event and a chop is +/-EV your do what the EV tells you. LOL though, the vast majority of ppl posting advise have never or rarely will be in that postition, or without the protection of a PC monitor will be brave enough to follow through.

The reality of the situation, is if your a reg at a casino then you should take every single MTT chop even if is sighty -EV. If you cannot figure out why then you havnt been at many casinos.

I Havent played in too many live tournaments but i was considering starting, what do you mean?

He means that you should take every chop that is offered, even if it's slightly -EV.

my guess, which is probs wrong, is that casino tournaments can go on for hours, and you could still lose out compared to a deal. take a deal nearly all the time, if its ICMand you're ahead.

Because if you frequent that casino, you want to be seen as a likable person, not "that asshole who never chops", especially if you're playing with a lot of the same people. People don't mind losing as much to the nice guy. At least I think that's what he means.

Also, I can't believe the amount of bullshit I had to wade through in this thread. My god, lately it's like dealing with my 11, 9, and 6 year old kids, who purposefully try to drive each other mad and piss each other off. I'm going to tell you all the same thing I tell them: LEARN TO IGNORE THEM. Geez.

Ah that makes a lot of sense, thanks!

it's a lot harder to tell people to take a hike when you're face-to-face.

True. But I find it's much easier to deflect talk of chops by saying friendly things like "nah let's wait a bit / play a bit longer / few more hands". It gently lets them know that you just want to play/gamble some more. Usually there's no hard feelings, game continues and you can rake in those extra chips/EV.

Taking this "line" also turns the tables and makes THEM look like the dick if they keep pestering about a chop. Most people won't be willing to look like a dick, so problem solved :)

I played the Peppermills $35 CMO tonight and it was one funky tournament.

There were 40 players and only 8 get paid. I was totally CD all night so had to survive on an uber tight image and stealing all night.

But the reason Im posting is b/c the tournament played until we got to the $ then the 8 of us were given cash proportionate to our stacks less $500 held aside for the winner, or as I understand it, usually the final 5 chop.

So after our break I come back to just over $330 is cash chips at the table. And from that point on it plays like a cash game with 15 min levels and the blinds start at $5/$10.

Anyway at 5 players I was the major chip leader but everybody totally wanted to chop and I went with the flow b/c it just felt wrong to hold out. I don't think Ill be playing the CMOs anymore.

I hate to win a Tournament for such a small pay out.

Anyway, I guess I do actually chop on occasion. lol

That sounds like a crazy tournament. What does CMO stand for? When you come back to the cash chips, do you have the option to take the money and run, or do you have to play it out. Just curious.

Not the most yghought about or most important factors to some but: Don't forget time is money. If it takes 4 hours to win another $300 or lose $300 that impacts your hourly earn rate. Also, think of your environment - are you gonna get out of this place alive? Probably - but some res casinos I've been to are a bit sketchy. The guy with Cracked AA might not be able to pay his rent and try to take it out on you. Sounds like a civil game though. The Texas Dolly has some great stories around this.

Come to think of it, your totally right. I guess that one of the reasons why the payouts were so short.

It is totally crazy. CMO stands for Cash Me Out. Yes, after the tournament converts to a cash game, you can cash out before the beginning of each level but not during.

I played this one to get enough points to get into a 20K freeroll on the 5th, which I was successful but now I see, IT'S a CMO as well. lol

I posted their sheet on the game below b/c it goes into the CMO structure better than I could.

I'm more worried about safety on the Vegas strip than here in Reno. Law enforcement around here, you do not mess with, there is way too much open desert just outside of town. lol

Seriously though, safety is never even a thought around the casinos especially the Peppermill.

In the second picture below, you cant really see the glassed in Tournament room in the back, its about 1/2 again the size of the main (cash) room.
