I feed the cats to stop them from walking over the keyboard or hanging around right in front of the screen....

I would recommend you Play as follows:

Do not play more than 4 tables.

Up to 1 hour

Then break not less than 15-25 minutes

And then the next session.

A day does not exceed 4 sessions.
Although correct, I think the qeustion is more about MTT's:D

In the 5min MTT break; if I get there..:
fluid: visit the bathroom, refill the water bottle and/or make a tea
move: stretch/get some fresh air
do not:
smoke/sniff/shoot/drink anything that may impair the coming hour(s)

It is very important. You should spend it away from computer and you shoul relax as much as you can. Playing poker is very difficult and playing being tired is almost impossible.

I live in a thirty foot camper so I'm able to multi-task pretty much throughout my play. The only thing I can't do at my desk is go to the bathroom but I use a laptop so that's no problem either. I really don't think you need a break from focusing on the game as it's not rocket science, lol.

I like to get away from the computer. Go outside catch some fresh air relax stretch. and prepare for the session.

5 minutes is too little sometimes for really long tourneys there should be a 15min break midlevel but that said...

wc, drinking, something to eat for energy and I think it is important to set some tactics for the next hour (if we are close to the final table, ITM or I have a high share of chips) ...

I always get up and stretch to keep my blood flowing. Usually use the rest room and refill my drink, maybe grab a snack.

I think the point is to 1) do things you've been putting off for the last hour, and 2) to make an effort to get from behind the laptop screen.

Yes- get up - step away and reset. Good play takes concentration so it's a nice way to relax and get ready to refocus.
