1st hand of the tourney I called a raise in a multiway pot on the button with AQ, called a flop bet of Qxx, then raised the turn (brick) and took it down. Haven't played a hand since, and we're now less than 10 hands in. My only read is that the raiser hasn't played a hand yet which is why I almost folded PF, but was getting great odds.

How do we play this?

I would put out a bet about 300 or so. If you get a raise you are prob beat a call might mean another ace which you may or may not be beating. This is a tough one since you can only be confident if you hit top 2 pair or trip jacks. Ace XX is a very dangerous flop with ace jack.

lets see...

no flush or straight for you... and AJ in a really multi-way pot, where you're in EP on the flop. Someone who hasn't played a hand yet is raising strong from UTG - so you have to put him on a big hand. he's either AA or AQ/AK (and beating you) or KK QQ and behind. I think you need to bet here, but don't hurt yourself.

You've got 2 choices - passive (check and call only small bets) or aggressive.

Aggressive you have to bet at least 300, probably 400. expect a fold around and maybe one caller. Any raise, and you might as well fold. I would say check the flop regardless of what comes out, and only bet on the river IF you hit your J and there was no bet on the turn.

Considered leading for info, but for whatever reason checked because I was weary of AK/AQ from the PF raiser. I obviously wasn't calling PF based on the value of AJ, and didn't want to commit many chips w/ just TP3rdK

...so I check, and it checks all around :)confused:)

Doesn't look like anyone else has an ace, probably a mid pair that is afraid of the ace out there. A reraise should tell you once and for all.

raise...

I think you need to raise the turn now, to protect your hand and take it down. I'm gonna guess the PF raiser had a TT/JJ/QQ, and has pretty much written his hand off in a multi-way with an A on the flop. With a 2nd low club on the turn, the bet here looks all too much like a blocking bet, and is really too small to even worry about. I say raise to at least 240, and I bet the initial bettor will fold if no one else calls.

I would raise more than the pot. There two possible flush draws and you're up against four other players. Clearly, no one has a A, K or A, Q unless they are slowplaying. Raising here will tell you where the player stand at this point.

I in fact do raise; the checks all around were really weak and I think I can safely assume that noone has AK or AQ as Tim said. I thought the original PF raiser had <KK and was scared by the ace, and I was now afraid of any diamond or club on the river, so I raised to make sure a weaker ace or draw had to pay.

keep it low and slow

I think you have to either check-fold or put up a small semi-bluff bet here. No big bet, because only a flush is calling you. Maybe 1/4 pot - if noone has the flush, you probably win, and only the flush should raise you.

Here's my take:

alfaman145 has a busted diamond draw.

Al Thompson has something like pocket 6s or 7s.

Make a bet between half the pot and pot sized and hope they don't have a flush.

alfaman - must have been chasing the wrong flush with the fold on the river.
Al T - wow, remember this guy. Calling the turn with a bad pair no kicker!

And yes, I think you have to call his all-in river - his stack is so small compared to the pot that he has to be bluffing. Any decent hand would have all-in on the turn, knowing you had to call anyway. He's just hoping the club river scared you.
