That would have been my guess until 2 hands later when he did something similar and got called. He was sitting with rags and 7k chips in the pot against 2 pair

It's a tough fold, but I think I have to do it. Could be a flush, but it could also be a hand that has a 5 in it - maybe ace, 5 suited? In any event, I don't think your hand is strong enough to call this down.

glad to hear all the fold reponses, that means I am making the right moves. somewhat.
Now if only I couldl have folded my 2 pair AQ that got taken out by a river straight which in turn put me 3 places out of the $$....:(

You should post the hand history of the AQ two pair that knocked you out. There may have been something you could have done differently.

I closed the table kind of angrily before I grabbed the history or I would. I need to start saving those things.

Probably gotta fold it in this situation. He could have a wide range of hands that beat you, including boats and overpairs. Just lay it down

i think is an easy fold.... if he is a tight person why he will risk all his chips in this hand??? maybe he hit 3 of a kind of 5 having A5 or maybe he hit flush... dont take a stupid risk and fold...

I agree it makes reading all that much harder.

Personally I think this is an easy fold. If he has been semi-tight, this screams nut flush at me.

By the way... betting 376.25? Why?

i have a saying, it goes somethin like this... AJ off almost always is gonna get you in trouble after the flop. the end. its a bit better suited, but i dont like puttin a lot of money in pf with if i have a choice stackwise. too many things you have to worry about with this hand. i can fold it quicker than you say cardschat if i need to.

For me, that's an easy fold. I always avoid calling off my stack with a hand that weak on a board like that. If he bluffed you off, catch him the next time when you've got the goods.

Your small flop bet gives you very little info. to work with. Why so small? If you'd bet out say 3/4 pot, you'd have a much better understanding of where you are at in the hand (you might take it down right here??). His preflop raise could mean an overpr. especially with the info. you provided in regards to his playing style (could also be a number of hands that have you beat).
For sure he's not sitting with a flopped set.. who would raise a couple limpers with A-5s preflop in this situation??.. that'd be crazy.

I'd probably fold there, it's tough, but it's the smart play I think.

Imagine the difference here if you would have raised PF.

I agree with the notion that AJ is a trouble hand, and OTB it deserves either a raise or a fold at a table you are not intimately familiar with.

Since AJ otb is so hard to muck, a raise seems natural. Your whole thought process here would have changed.

there are certain times when you just have to fold it, i would suspect that he had drawn a flush, luckily.

Having called a raise pre-flop he probably doesnt have a 5. I would put him more on a J or a pocket pair then a flush draw since he called that raise. So I would call thinking that he has a pocket pair less high than J's.

He is betting exactly 1/4th of the pot.
