Was there any particular reason that you were playing this hand from UTG at a full table on level 3 of the tourney?

21 hands played and saw flop:
- 1 times out of 2 while in small blind (50%)
- 1 times out of 1 while in big blind (100%)
- 2 times out of 18 in other positions (11%)
- a total of 4 times out of 21 (19%)

Pots won at showdown - 1 out of 2 (50%)
Pots won without showdown - 0

this might be one reason i did it after folding 13 times straight and not gettin chit it looked better than it was so figured id least see the flop then fold if nothin hit

suitedness is nice to have, but I hear way too many times when someone goes broke with a poor hand, but they were suited. Fine if you have the nuts but what you've got here is a hand that is easily outkicked. You also have to remember that lots of people will have trouble laying down that set, being able to make an accurate read and assessment of the situation is what allows you to lay down good, but second-best hands.

My .02

I can definitely see where you are coming from with the boredom, so maybe try playing two tables.

Someone help me out on this as I don't know who to credit for saying it, but someone famous in poker once said that poker is a game that is hours of boredom interruped by moments of shear terror.

Folding is boring, no doubt. But calling with a bad hand from out of position is a recipe for disaster. And before you ask, yes, I've done it too. So has everyone on this site at one time or another. Biggest thing is to learn from it and use it to tighten up your game.

Considering your PF call, which i also disagree with (just because you haven't had hands in a while doesn't make it OK to play lesser hands), here's what I think, brutus:

*** FLOP *** [Ks Qd 7c]
brutus34: bets 100 good feeler bet
kama7558: raises 100 to 200 he has announced that he has you beat (either that or he is getting info with AQ or QJ or something like that)...think what he can have here that would make him raise...
brutus34: calls 100 call is fine
*** TURN *** [Ks Qd 7c] K♦
brutus34: checks I think a better play would be to lead out for say 250 or 300 here, and see what your opponent does. He announced earlier that he has a better hand than you; maybe KQ, 77, KA - who knows, but your kicker isn't good enough to play an all in pot. Lead out, if he pushes you, then folding becomes a serious option. If he was raising with say QJ, then he'll probably fold, and presto, we've won the pot.
kama7558: checks
*** RIVER *** [Ks Qd 7c Kd] 9♠
brutus34: bets 1150 and is all-in You did not define your opponents hand enough, which put you in danger. That's the way I see it at least.
kama7558: calls 1150

board was rainbow so flushes were out...maybe he has A Q hoping id fold his 100 raise, or A J and was chasing the straight hoping to hit the straight or another Ace with high kicker...yeah it crossed my mind he might have a king with higher kicker but when the king hit on the turn i threw that out..i figure the odds are pretty much in my favor being heads up and 2 other kings on the board that he's not holding the other king.

what chuck said.

Suited junk is STILL junk. You wouldn't play 72s, why play king eight suited?

I don't know how many times that line of thought has gotten me in trouble...for example:

I have KdKc and i raise 4xBB. 1 caller. Flop comes AcAh4c. Well...i think 1 ace is bad, but 2 aces means he has much less chance at an ace. I bet big and got a big reraise in my face. I had to fold, but i could have saved alot of money by checking.

The odds may have been in your favor, but the poker gods weren't. Call it Murphy's law of poker...Regardless of the odds, your opponent will be holding the worst possible card at the worst possible time when you are playing a hand that should have been mucked. :D Been there, seen it.

ChuckT, nice analysis, I completely agree with you on this. In fact, I was going to say EXACTLY the same thing (word for word, no less), but you beat me to it. ;) Thanks for saving me the time, bud.

You would not have played this hand had you not been on a run of Folds. Why change your normal strategy.

It cost you your tourny life

FOLD FOLD FOLD
