Ok, so I think I played this right and just got sucked out on, but figured I'd throw it up here to get opinions. Should I have pushed pf since I was only leaving $7355 behind? Villain was decent player (28/12) and when he flatcalled pf I was fairly positive I had him on the flop. I offered him terrible odds on his draw (2.85:1) but he of course called (leaving himself only $8522) and hit on the river. Not sure if this matters, but the bubble had just burst & I was out in 18th, just inside the money (180 man MTSnG). So, anyway, did I play this right?

He was right to call on the flop with 6 overs + an OESD...

If you're going to 3-bet, I think I'd lean towards 3-betting for less. ~5250, so you have more money behind and more fold equity on the flop. However, 3-betting an UTG raiser with AJs is a bit iffy IMO, and I wouldn't fault just calling either. You're suited, so you'll hit plenty of flops, and you have position.

Are you planning to call a shove preflop?

Idk, this is kinda a nasty spot. Your hand is too good to fold preflop, too mediocre to really 3-bet effectively, and I'd hate calling off that much of my stack and playing a flop without initiative.

I had considered raising to ~4500 pf, mostly to find out where I stood & get heads up. But mostly, I made the standard raise because I wanted to rep a big pair, hopefully getting him to fold pf (I had been showing down big pairs QQ & up when making raises like this previously). His flat call said to me that he didn't have a big pair, as I'd seen him push in that situation earlier. As far as calling a pf shove.... having already committed almost half my stack, probably. So I guess that speaks for making the smaller 3-bet. I definately didn't feel comfortable just calling pf though as I would have had no idea where I was after the flop. I just ran the hand through an odds calculator & found out it was a lot closer than I was thinking on the spot... guess I forgot to take his overs into account, it basically came down to a coinflip with me having only a slight edge.
