Me (BB)18,000
Opponent (SB) 50,500

Blinds 4,000/$8,000

I'm dealt :2h4: :4h4: .

Opponent calls the $4,000. I check.

The flop:
:2d4: :4s4: :kc4:

I go all in. He calls and shows :ah4: :ad4: . My hand holds up.

My question is not whether I played it right or not. My questions is, if you were the opponent in this situation, would you slowplay Aces here?

Considering that your so shortstacked, then yes. Is this HU ?

How did you let yourself become so short, tbh I'm almost shoving any two UTG here, before the blinds eat my stack.

Considering stack / blind sizes yeah, I put you all in preflop with the aces. I figure you're calling with a huge range, I'm a massive favourite if you do, and if you fold you're still crippled.

From your perspective, that's pretty much how I'd have played it. We're getting called by just about anything if we shove preflop and while it might even be correct to shove with ATC, 42 is one of those hands where I just can't bring myself to do it. I take the free flop and shove if I catch any part of it.

If I was your opponent here, I would be playing AA just the same as I would have played any other premium hand. I would not want to change up my play here. FWIW as the SB I'm NEVER just completing, it's either raise or fold. If I had been raising 75% of my hands and folding the other 25% and all of a sudden I just complete that should set off all sorts of bells for you. What was your opponent doing when in the SB?

He tod me that he was trying to trap me, hope that I hit something on the flop and go all in if I did. I ended up winning the tournament and he kept on saying "that Pocket Aces hand killed me." i can see why he would want to slowplay heads up but I feel that if you opponent is very shortstacked, push all in with it. If I folded to the all in raise preflop, I'm pretty much all in on the next hand anyway, costing him very little to call.

When you have just 3 big blinds, I'm putting you all in with almost any 2 cards that have a 9 or higher, aces included.

if villain shoves pre you should be making a pot odds call with ATC, so yeah slowplaying aces here is pretty much the stupidest thing ever.

I really think your guys played the hand poorly, specially considering the 4-8k blinds with your 18k stack.
