When it came to him to bet he was putting 2,400 into a pot of 9540, so he was getting just on 4:1 odds.

He did not have the correct odds to call your All In bet.

Maybe he felt like gambling as he had a lot of outs.

I guess he put you on two big cards trying to buy the pot on the flop. I don't think the preflop call is that bad but it's a really loose call on the flop being up against an all in.
