Yup, you did right. Either All-in or get blinded away. It's a good chance for you to double up.

Man, people value J, 10 too highly! You played it fine. I guess your opponent figured he had the chips to call and a good drawing hand.

Lemme guess, he hit a miracle straight or something, and you lost the hand.

I push this preflop approximately %100 of the time. Don't let results make you rethink your play.

I think you both played it right. Your push was absolutely correct for the situation.

And from his perspective, he's has $68,386 left after his bet and now only has to call $8,950 more to win a $22,650 pot. That's over 2.5 to 1, a not so horrible hand with likely two live cards, the chance to eliminate a player, and still a very reasonable chip stack if he loses. All that = call.

you appear to be implying that these two are mutually exclusive events (i.e. if one occured this hand, the other cannot have occured). i'm not sure whether perhaps it's just down to a problem in wording the questions, or whether it reflects your way of thinking. anyway, that is, of course, not true. in this example, you played it right AND villain made a crap call (it's a freeroll, this happens a lot).

Personally I think the cards played themselves given the situation

No, you obviously played it wrong. Pushing all-in with AK after one open-limper when you have 4 BBs left is clearly not the right way to play it. The open limp clearly represented AA or KK. Come on. Not to be overly harsh, but there is no reason for this thread to exist.

You made the only reasonable play you had & as a bonus got a caller to potentially double you up. Can't beat a deal like that.

Yes, you did the right thing. I read JD's post and I just realized that villain also did the right thing. He was, actually, getting 2.5 to 1 odds and since he's up against AK his call is correct.
