Early in MTT, slightly larcenous button raise makes top pair

What's your action on the turn? It's early in an MTT, you've open raised from the button with QT and are called by the BB. You flop top pair, BB check calls, then bets a little more than half the pot on the turn. You don't have any reads on the player.

Would you have opened with QT at all this early? It's a good stealing hand from the button but blinds are still low.

well, you are not getting very good odds to call that bet.

my initial feelings are that villian called with a small to medium pocket pair, such as 3's 5's or 8's, puts you on a button steal, and made his set. any big pair is going to reraise. but then, why would he bet the turn and not check riase since you've alread fired one bullet. he's gotta think that you are going to fire another. i would be very hesitant to call and would most likely fold.

for some reason i am getting little squares next to the Q, 10 and 5, i'm assuming they are diamonds. what are the suits of those cards? that may change my opinion.

Yes, the Q in my hand, 10 and 5 on the board are diamonds.

i stand by what i said before. i can't imagine, even if he had two diamonds in his hand that he would make the same play. the diamonds are irrelevent.

i think the button raise is totally legitimate.... QT is a great stealing hand..
its a big bet though at that stage of the tourney... if that was the river, i think i d call.. but since youre gonna probably face another bets of about a 1000 on the river, it should be a fold.... you re only in for about 350..
