Your M = 1.75. You should have made a move far before you got to this point.

I shove K2 in this spot, KQ is a monster.

Yeah, you had a coinflip here which is the best you can hope for when you make this push. I hope you got short stacked by losing a big hand, not by waiting too long to make a stand. Totally standard push.

You push was the right move.

I was at your table a little while and the thing I noticed was that you limp folded with low M. For example:

full tilt poker Game #7479972605: Cardschat.com $200 Freeroll (56555435), Table 6 - 40/80 - No Limit Hold'em - 12:43:04 ET - 2008/08/02

In those 2 hands, by limp folding you lost 20% of your stack.

Playing loose and passive isn't good, specially with a short stack. Tighten up your starting hand selection and come in with a raise instead.

Heres another hand you played with some suggestions.

pokerstars GAME #19104830835: TOURNAMENT #96580146, $2.00+$0.20 HOLD'EM NO LIMIT - LEVEL I (10/20) - 2008/07/25 - 23:06:41 (ET)
Table '96580146 152' 9-max Seat #8 is the button
Seat 1: dangerdavea (1510 in chips)
Seat 2: Schagger10 (2130 in chips)
Seat 3: mcomdog (880 in chips)
Seat 4: Effexor1 (1470 in chips)
Seat 5: .Math.Duff. (1590 in chips)
Seat 6: bellamad (1460 in chips)
Seat 7: qhscoachv (3430 in chips)
Seat 8: HeistGnWrong (2640 in chips)
Seat 9: JES21 (3680 in chips)
JES21: posts small blind 10
dangerdavea: posts big blind 20
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Effexor1 [Tc 8s]
Schagger10: folds
mcomdog: folds
Effexor1: folds
.Math.Duff.: folds
bellamad: folds
qhscoachv: folds
HeistGnWrong: folds
JES21: raises 40 to 60

Raises with low blinds relative to stack sizes should be more on the order of a larger % of stack size and not just 3xBB. Should raise to 100-120 or so here. Plus, people that can't fold always assume you are making a play and stealing the blinds so their calling range is huge in this spot.

dangerdavea: calls 40
*** FLOP *** [5h Ts 2h]
JES21: bets 60

Betting half the pot here, once again is weak. As played, with such a dry flop, bet the pot. If you had raised more PF, then 2/3 pot bet would have been good in this spot.

dangerdavea: calls 60
*** TURN *** [5h Ts 2h] 9♣
JES21: bets 80

Now you bet out for 1/3 the pot. This in effect does nothing. Any draws will call, overs, any pairs etc. At this point you are bluffing poorly. If you had an over pair, you wouldn't bet 1/3 the pot. It's just a bad bet here.

dangerdavea: calls 80
*** RIVER *** [5h Ts 2h 9c] 4♥
JES21: bets 100

And now you bet 1/4 of the pot on a dead bluff all the while showing weakness on every street.

dangerdavea: raises 100 to 200
JES21: calls 100

What hand raises you here that you beat?

*** SHOW DOWN ***
dangerdavea: shows [5c Qs] (a pair of Fives)
JES21: mucks hand
dangerdavea collected 800 from pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 800 | Rake 0
Board [5h Ts 2h 9c 4h]
Seat 1: dangerdavea (big blind) showed [5c Qs] and won (800) with a pair of Fives
Seat 2: Schagger10 folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 3: mcomdog folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 4: Effexor1 folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 5: .Math.Duff. folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 6: bellamad folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 7: qhscoachv folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 8: HeistGnWrong (button) folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 9: JES21 (small blind) mucked [Ad Kd]

On the original hand here, you were right to shove from any position.

Change the scenario just a bit and you might give pause to entering this pot, but most of us would shove here.

If someone with a bigger stack were to shove before you, then you might, repeat MIGHT, consider laying this hand down. How long are you going to wait, how long CAN you wait? Not very long. So even in that alternate universe you would have to call.

I agree that you probably should have been more active a bit earlier. Not necessarily a lot more active, but learn the signs for increased opportunities, and exploit them.
