you played pretty much the same as I would have , except my c-bet would have been less , but the results would have been the same.

you can't get them off those pp's even with a good raise , most of the time they won't hit and your c-bet takes it down , but when they do , you gotta be ready to drop your hand , you have two over cards , not a great hand post flop. jmo

i agree u gotta be ready to let them go but with the pot odds i would of had to call, i thought about betting 500,600 but then if he goes in im priced in to call which is why i just put him in from the gate

I don't think it was a terrible way to play it out, I just think it was a bit expensive. He offered you a free turn card, and since we only have overs, I would have probably taken it.

Also, you might have considered not re-raising him on the flop. AQ & AJ are certainly in his raising range, and it might not be a bad time to trap, and hope an ace comes on the flop. This would at least make for a smaller pot which gives you more room to make some plays on him, without him being pot-committed. The downside of just calling leaves the door open for other players to enter the pot. However, if you're going to go 3-way with any hand, AK is pretty much the best one to do it with.

Bottom line here is that you ran up against a set. As played, shoving isn't a terrible move since it has potential to fold out hands like 99, JJ, ect.

Also, I noticed you said you'd be priced in to call. However, this isn't a cash game. In a tourney, pot odds tend to go out the window. If he shoves over your 400 chip bet (3/5ths of the pot), you *can* get away from this hand (you're getting 4.5:1 on your money). I don't see anyone except a set, AQ, or maybe once in a while JJ making that move. Against a set you have runner outs, against AQ, you have 3, and even in the best case scenario, you only have a ~24% shot at making your hand by the river. Your opponent would have to have JJ or less most of the time to make calling with AK profitable. And since its not a cash game either, even if you *knew* he had JJ, I don't think it would be worth it to dump another 400 chips into a negative equity situation.
